For those who care, (and I agree it is mostly about fball, basketball and baseball)...
softball has lost 6 of 8 and scored only 9 runs in those games, two A+++ arms and losing like this? given our history of SEC champs and Mack and Fico, what do sb fans see the issue as?, thought we would be playing better
as for GYM, article today quotes coach as saying about former star "I want her hanging around my program.” Nothing new here, we are a perpetual loser in SEC, only 8 teams and we are an also ran again this year, 4-5th place...not that many bcs programs, same coach forever and she never wins...MY program....nice ego

A number of SEC teams have passed LSU in softball in recent years. It used to be LSU and Bama at the top. Now Bama is still playing for championships and Tennessee, Georgia, and Florida have all passed LSU by.

this is what I was afraid of, I make 2-3 games a year and have for awhile, new coach etc seems good, but last few years seem to have fallen off even with great new park and fico/mack....

I think Yvette retiring caught everyone off guard and then Patrick Murphy screwed us big time. I'm pulling for Beth Torina but something is definitely missing here.

We grade hires around here before they even coach a game.

I am not an expert of softball but looking at a few box scores in the last few games Mack and Fico are not living up to your "A+++" status.

They combined to give up 10 runs on Sunday and 8 runs last night.

Not going to win many softball games when you give up 10 and 8 runs.

Pretty sure we suck in swimming and tennis also, and golf.

That is unacceptable! We are LSU God Damnit.

Well, there's a point to be made here... you mean to tell me with the softball scene we have in Louisiana we can't field a winning team at LSU? Have you SEEN how many softball tournaments are going on during any given weekend?

There is softball talent OUT THE arse in this state.

I freely admit that I only casually keep up with softball because it is a boring sport. While I'm all for good pitching, a little offense would be nice, and, that is where LSU has had an issue keeping up. LSU softball has been unable to produce any offense against higher caliber teams for several years now to support what is otherwise good pitching and defense. As in all sports, if you can't score, you can't win.

Ummm, do some research and you will find…
only about 40 BCS programs,
there are only 7 teams in the SEC,
same coach for 30+ years, we have not won sec since the first year the SEC had a gym conf! (1980's)
past 10-12 years we have finished 4-5th in SEC most times and part of this SEC had 6!
5 sec teams made NCAA semis, we are the last of the five, sport only has about 60 D1 teams….
In our all time matches versus Ala, UGA and Florida, we have lost over 80% of the time! 80…Yes we are LSU, and we cannot expect to win in everything, but can we at least expect to every 8-10 years compete for the conf title we are in? ever year, mediocre at best….
if im wrong im ready to consider other's view here

Looks like LSU is just fine in gymnastics.

So what? You want us to spend (i.e. lose) lots more money so that we can only do marginally better? It's freaking gymnastics. Mediocre is perfectly fine. Maybe we should work on our mediocre academic reputation before we fix gymnastics.

Depends on how you define the program. LSU competes well on a national level. Problem is, Alabama and Georgia are perennial national champions. We're no where near competing with those schools.

Gymnastics is an interesting sport in that teams are ranked by scores rather than wins and loses. Our win/loss record isn't all that great but we score well.
