Baylor coach Scott Drew could be interested in LSU. "If LSU went after Scott with the commitment that they want to compete with Kentucky, he would listen," said coach Tim Byrd of Riverside Academy near New Orleans. Byrd, who coached Baylor commitment Ricardo Gathers, said he talks often with Drew.

Hell yes! We should do no worse than Drew. At this point put to bed the JJ talk.

So he wants Calipari money. That's understandable, but LSU spends about a third on basketball as UK. This will actually take a culture change at LSU. UK spent 12 mil. LSU only brought in 7 mil or so in basketball revenue. It is doable but Alleva will have to really stick his neck out for that.

What about the NCAA violations?

Would use LSU for leverage. Would I love the hire? Would be the best hire since Dale.

I don't think it's worth it with all the crap Baylors about to get hit with.

The situation at Baylor is really not that bad.

Baylor's not going to get hit with anything. They've already self imposed and will probably be good with that.
This whole text and phone thing isn't even against the rules anymore.
Nothing will come of this.

Isn't it mostly too many texts? They didn't log properly how many they sent?
Doesn't seem that a big deal or something that would be a recurring problem, unless the coach is an idiot.
eta: How does this compare to Sampson at OU?

Eh, it looks like all the NCAA found was too many calls and texts. The same thing that happened to LSU football.

This. Impermissible phone calls. Whoopdidoo. He might not be able to call recruits himself for a certain period, thats it.
This is the kind of hire we need to make.

I'd be all like
if we got Scott Drew.

Wasn't the complaint for Baylor this year that it was just 5 talented guys running around on the court doing their own thing? I.e. no teamwork or basketball knowledge

That won and made the elite 8. I'm cool with that.
