None of that makes up for having to live in Memphis. I wouldn't wish this place on my worst enemy.
Then good riddance. I love it here. If you can't find a good time in Memphis, you're just not looking for it.

Yes, it was. But they all say that at this point. If I'm a coach, with signing day so close, I'm torn between getting the job quickly and trying to bring some of my recruits, or waiting until signing day is past.

Pastner is falling out of favor in Memphis. Certainly possible that he would take a job at LSU.
"Falling out of favor" is a bit of an exaggeration. The fans are up and down on him, like they would be with anyone so unproven but so promising. His job is certainly not in any kind of jeopardy, not even remotely. I also don't think he was against the move to the Big East at all.

I'm not saying LSU has reached out to him, but do you expect him to acknowledge it if they have? Signing day is tomorrow. At this point, it's agents talking. Josh probably hasn't personally talked to anyone.

Nick Saban "i'm not going to be the alabama coach"

John Calipari "Memphis is where i want to be"

Josh isn't Cal or Saban, though (in a lot of respects).

Most of my friends (some of which are season ticket holders, some dont contribute dick monetarily) arent really up and down. They're pretty much down.

No doubt. Not for another several years.

Not really. Most of the comments I notice are negative...lukewarm at best.

Not in danger of firing, but the honeymoon is long over.

Most of my family (longtime season ticket holders in multiple sports, Highland Hundred charter members, and employees of the athletic department) are all over the place. Opinions change weekly.

After the Joe Jackson incident earlier, everyone was convinced he was in over his head with these high-profile, inner-city athletes. Then after the C-USA tournament, everyone was convinced we were making a run to the Sweet 16 and Josh was our future Coach K. After the SLU game, everyone was convinced Josh isn't a good enough game coach to win in the postseason, no discipline, just athletes, etc.

It's all just blah, blah, blah IMO. Every game is a referendum on the future of the program, it's just absurd. He's a very promising young coach who is still taking his lumps, and any program that hires him needs to understand they will have to be patient and grow with him, and they should be handsomely rewarded.

Memphis is a tough gig...but you can win big at Memphis (ask Bartow, Kirk, Finch, Calipari)...and Memphis will pay you well for it. (Cal was making 2.6 million at Memphis)

Josh Pastner

I was on his team once. He coached youth basketball in Kingwood, TX (his dad owned the league, and he coached as a HS senior).

Josh is the man. Would love it if he were our next coach.

In 1973 Memphis lost to UCLA in the NCAA finals, when Bill Walton had a nearly perfect game (21/22 from the field). 1986 was the year LSU beat them in the second round at the last second (and my grandfather was so pissed that he drove off and left my parents--who were bigger LSU fans--in Baton Rouge).

I played in that league, but Josh wasn't old enough to coach yet (he would keep stats at some games though). His Dad put it on back then as well.

He is 0-10 vs. ranked teams during his time at Memphis.

2011-12.....0-3
2010-11.....0-3
