Oh yeah!!

Seriously, the dude can coach and recruit. That was never his issue. If he's been able to stay clean in L.A. living the NBA lifestyle, BR should be easy. He's coached in college, D-League and NBA.

Said he has an under the radar name that is a likely candidate.

Wasn't he the same sports announcer who, before the football bowls were announced in 2008, said he had it on good authority that LSU was going to play Southern Cal in the Rose Bowl?

Reggie Theus is the darkhorse name I've heard from some friends. He has no ties to LSU whatsoever, I don't even think he's coaching this year. Maybe his name has been mentioned before and I just haven't seen it.

Yeah, Theus' name is floating around. He was New Mexico State's coach when Martin was the school president there. Won 25 games his second year, then coached for Sacramento in the NBA for less than a whole season before they fired him. Then he was an assistant for a couple years. Now he's out of coaching.

Ain't excited.

Martin -- that's the connection I was looking for. I knew there had to be something, because Theus is too random. Hopefully Martin is just allowing him to interview as a courtesy.

Here's an interesting story, little old, on Quin Snyder. Seems like he was fired by Mizzou and burned out for a while. He got his act together in the D-league and is now an assistant coach for the Lakers. He's got charisma and he can flat out coach.

He played at Duke(coach K connection). He's young and could be here for a while. Can he recruit?

Three years ago, he resurfaced in basketball's backwater, the NBA's D-League, coaching the Austin Toros. He took the eight-hour bus rides. He coached in empty arenas in places like Bakersfield and Bismarck.

quote:

"I had more control over my life," Snyder said of his time in Austin. "No one knows what I did there. No one cares that we won more games than anybody else. But I don't care that no one knows it. For me, it's something to hold on to."

if quinn wants to be away from the spotlight and doesn't mind playing in empty gyms, LSU sounds perfect for him

I really hope that Snyder is not a candidate. The guy is a train wreck. Doing mountains of blow, having sex with players girlfriends, lying to the administration.

If we're going to dip into the world of dirty recruiters, we can at least do better than Snyder.

Quinn is risky but the pay off could be big. Looks to be on the up and up since his down fall and doing work as an NBA assistant, I'd take him over jones
