When is Roger going to get full time REFEREE's, we have a weekend warrior system in place.
What we have now is connected individuals, approximately 50 to 60 yrs. old can't keep up with game speed and by the replay results for the season, they need their eyes checked.
The reason Roger won't address this is, he doesn't want pay retirement and health benefits for full time REFS. He doesn't want to deal with anymore unions!!
That's why he is taking so long with player suspensions... He has to deal with the NFL Players union.
( Then he comes with player safety concerns, when Farve was getting hit the old arse REf was right on top of the play, no FLAGS , but we are bounty hunters, lol)
With the money being thrown around, we should demand better. Take retiring position player at ages 35-to 50, when it's football season they ref, off season the go to 40 hour work weeks studying the rules.
But like the rest of Coporate America, they want the cheap hired labor with no responsibilities to them.
Goodell is a cheap arse lying DEEK HEAD!!
(The NFL game is not responsible for the concussions, come on man, you gotta come up with something better than that lie ROGER, but it's OK for ROGER to lie , as long as it saves the NFL money.
WHAT A F'ING JOKE!!!! ROGER

I believe that Goodell gave the harsh sentence to send a message to league, but with every intention of an eventual appeal and reduction of punishment. Losing a popular coach for the whole year is destructive for the saints as well as the NFL.
I am beginning to think that SP, being the arrogant bastard that he is, may call Goodells bluff and not appeal at all, thus forcing him to live out the harsh sentence and fan backlash that will come.

Does that really sound like no tolerance? You get a second chance with zero tolerance???

This will be my issue if Saints' players face severe suspensions. Part of the reason the coaches penalties are severe is because the Goodell felt they deceived him. Is he saying Saints' players also lied? If not league wide player suspensions should happen because they participated in bounty programs the same way Sanints' players did.
I'm sure this is goodell's reasoning. However if there are bonus systems going on in other teams in the league these teams have been lying also!

If Terrell Suggs doesn't get penalized for admittedly purposely injuring Rashard mendenhal(sp?), an injury that knocked him out for the season, goodell has absolutely no solid ground to stand on. Not like he did in the first place.

Goodell does not give a damn about player safety or the Saints' deception. The deception was the easy alibi for targeting and punishing the Saints in order for Goodell and the owners to put up a half-assed front for cracking down on bounties as a defense in the event of future lawsuits by NFL players past and present.
Goodell publicly admitting to knowledge of bounty systems going on around the league was really stupid on his part, especially when it is obvious he has no intention to investigate and punish any of the other teams involved.

Payton doesn't deserve how he is being painted by many as a man who is evil and arrogant. By all accounts, until this thing broke, he was a stand-up guy with great family values who does a lot of work for charity and cares deeply about the people around him and his players. Yeah he fricked up and I am a little pissed and miffed by his inaction. But what goodell did to him makes it hard to be mad at him.

Goodell straight up said it happened other places. We also wouldn't have been questioned had someone not snitched. That's a fact. These other teams should be punished for not being forthcoming with the info IMO. It's only fair
This place has gone full retard.
Goodell has known all along that this happens all over the league. Fact. He's told other clubs to cease with their bounty systems. Fact. They complied. Fact. Saints did not. Fact. Goodell punishes Saints leadership for lying, not ceasing that program, and then trying to cover it up.
FACT
I'm a huge Saints fan guys, but get real. Payton and Co. are being punished for lying and trying to cover it up, not solely for the bounties.

Not a fact. Goodell has not investigated all known bounty programs so how do we know they complied?

Nobody on the planet is disputing this

He's told other programs to shut it down, and they've complied. Green Bay comes to mind.

Then stop acting like butthurt babies and playing the victim card. The Saints are not innocent. The league may have came down a little too hard, but it is what it is, you get what you get.

Ill dispute it if any player suspensions are as lengthy as the coaches

I think he'll come down hard on Vilma and any other ring leaders.. others may just get fines.

If the end result of all this is the ouster of Goodell by the owners, there will be a silver lining.
The other potential silver lining: winning the Super Bowl in New Orleans and rubbing it in Goodell's face.

But why? As you said, the coaches got punished heavily for being deceptive, I doubt the players were even asked

It is part of the national conspiracy to disparage all things Saints and LSU.

That doesn't absolve the players from all guilt.. they knew about the system, they WERE the system. There are going to be some player penalties also.
