i would have 100% no problem with this (motive wise) if 100% of the money went to education. but it doesn't. it goes to the ath dept.

Has anyone been paying attention to what's been going on around the SEC? Schools like State, Ole Miss and UK are starting to sink millions into facilities. The big boys are throwing money around on renovations like it's candy. LSU can't afford to get left behind. You can't expect to stay at the top on the field without dishing out extra cash. I was as outraged as anyone last year with the new $40 parking fee but it ended up working out for our group. It kept the riffraff out of the interior of campus and afforded us not having to get out there at arse-crack of dawn to save our spot.

It is an college football problem, not an LSU problem ole war skule

again, it was 13% of the lots, and some of you want beer sales to offset- that is not up to LSU, it is SEC regulated etc., but again, if this is too much for some of you because you were there in the 80's and it was so much more fun YOU, send me your bills, you deserve to pay less, really, LSU is just ripping you off, it is not fair to YOU...

if there are positives from this, i would agree with your last sentences. we still get out at dawn anyway. but our lot used to fill up by 8:30 now there are spots at noon.

Yet, with each person that decides that they can do better elsewhere, a little bit of what makes football Saturdays so special at LSU dies. That vaunted Louisiana hospitality, that fierce loyalty, and that inimitable home field advantage slowly eroded: the wildness of the Bayou Bengals tamed by the button down banality of the overzealous, image conscious, money-hungry AD and national media. And this makes me sad, because I’ve seen it happen before, as it happened to me.

I agree.

what a load of horseshite. You realize LSU's recruiting budget was good enough for 10th in the SEC?

you seem to take this personally.

if this had no affect on you, then awesome, congrats.

it's had a bit of an impact on our group and the atmosphere. if tailgating isn't important to you, then that's cool. it's important to many people.

i have a family. that doesn't mattter to you and that's fine as well. with the rising prices of everything, eventually i may be priced out of coming to games. that doesn't affect you, so how awesome for you!

i'm not saying i don't like price raises because i think LSU should have a bad program (which is clearly how you think) i'm saying things are changing not necessarily for the better.

and sure, it does affect me, i'm not saying i'm entitled, i'm just saying it sucks for me.

" but this season could bring a better sample of night games so we'll see."

I think this is wishful thnking, the big conference night games are a thing of the past IMO.Unless we start losing............

not necessarily. for instance CBS will televise the bama game this year as their one night game.

but true usually the marquee game gets the 2:30 spot.

it's just that we and bama were so much better than everyone last yr the network decided the air few other teams. it will swing back, and other teams will get better and garner attention.

i hate day games, but it's an indication of having a good program.

but i'm probably not even supposed to say i hate day games...

The problem is not LSU, our fees are reasonable compared to other top tier SEC schools. The problem is the no-limit arms race in college football where everyone benefits except the fans and the schools...ESPN wins, coaches win, players win, administrators win, trainers win, construction companies win, secretary to the assistant for administrative development win, non-fans win because then can now watch games they don't care about on TV, etc etc.

only 'real' FANS AND SCHOOLS LOSE.....The quantity and quality of the product does not change, but we pay 10 times what we did 20 years ago. The quality has actually gone down as fans now have to watch and listen to commercials during the game where we did not years ago. Money pours into the athletic problem, but none, of any substance get to the school itself. With the billions of dollars that go to athletic departments, almost all still have to be subsidized by the schools....

I enjoyed going to games MUCH more in the early 80's without the expenses and commercials that we now have to endure.

It is an college football problem, not an LSU problem.

i dont disagree with anything said here. spot on. it's sad though. pretty soon inner campus wont be as festive as it once was.

That's what I do and I get there at 7:30AM on gameday.

Parking further away can get you out quicker.

I'm still pissed about the parking fees being raised even though it doesn't really affect me.

Does anyone know where this parking fee money really goes?

The trash excuse is pathetic.

If I'm not mistaken, $1 of every ticket goes to grounds cleanup. That's $90,000 per game.

If that isn't enough to cover cleanup, then I'm in the wrong business.

People need to realize, this is about two things.. Money and decreasing the gameday crush of people. Its that simple and until the balance of cost and people is met, you will see continual price increases.

I do think that season ticket holders should get priority parking. Those folks contribute money to the program via cost of mandatory TAF fees + cost of tickets, as opposed to the "just here for the party crowd"

While I agree with you, they don't care as long as they make the money

The administration simply doesnt want 125k people on campus, many of which dont attend the game or have any intention of attending the game.. These people are a net loss in terms of gameday revenue.

and here come the entitlement folks,again..

Naa, just the folks who either are, know someone, or are bright enough to realize that the Lot M spots they took were previously reserved for handicapped folks.

Those handicapped folks will be given parking options over a mile away from the Stadium.

You know many folks like my Mom whose got a Titanium Hip and is in her Mid-50's, or someone else whose using a wheelchair or whose mobility has been limited who want to try to walk a mile more than they already were in the hot sun?

But hey, I hope the 50 grand they'll make off of taking those spots is worth it to them.
