I ask this not based on ability or experience but on the high expectations that've been placed on him.

Nope, we are screwed.

Eta - it's a pointless question. Nobody knows how the season will unfold.

Chestenberger don't even have the word "pressure" in his vocabulary. I hear he failed spelling tests constantly as a child because of it.

I think he'll be okay, but I imagine this place will be a disaster the moment he makes one bad play, because the expectations are so ungodly high at this point.

This.

I have never seen a QB that looked as confident as he did the first time he took a snap in TS.

If he's going to be viewed/treated as the Second Coming for the next 5 months, pressure isn't what we should be worried about.

From "Lion in Winter":

ELEANOR: The boy sometimes wonders if your promises are any good.

HENRY: There's no sense asking if the air's good when there's nothing else to breathe.

With our defense and running game, any QB that isn't foaming at the mouth should find another career.

I don't know if it's as much of high expectations as it is high hopes. I'm personally just relieved that it's someone new under center.

All high hopes aside, if he's even an average quarterback we should be better than we were last year.

That being said I do think he has the confidence and ability to be great, based on the little I've seen.

This is the right answer and the expectation.

Kragthorpe says the battle with Mett will be keeping him even keeled. he gets a little too high and too low after good and bad plays
