I am "Urban Hunting" right now. A Squirrel in the attic. I have a nice corn pile in the back yard, 22 sub-sonics, Suppressed Bolt-Action. 
I wonder if you could place an Owl or Hawk Decoy in your yard and deter them?

I just saw a suggestion somewhere that might work. I have a wrought iron fence surrounding my yard and I'll try stringing fishing line around the bottom to keep them from being able to get in the yard. They'd have to fly over the fence and I think they'd just go somewhere else. Might work.

Another long term option is pesticide. If they are there after the rain the way described in the OP, they are eating bugs and chit.

I was shocked at how much ducks eat bugs. Been having mine for about 5 yrs and it still surprises me how the first thing they do is leave my pond and head for the yard when it rains. Only other time they do that is when acorns are falling.
They also mate like freaking rabbits (doing this time of year). I have 12 right now and will have at least 40 babies in about 3 months.

No. Maybe since Im on a couple acres I dont notice how bad it is but I dont have that big of an issue with the lawn. I dont keep mine manicured though.

My yellow lab would have great fun with that. There is a white duck around the corner and whenever he is seen on our morning walks there will be a chase. Get a retriever or herding dog.

The ones in my back dont tear up my yard.
The part they seem to feed on most is my best grass when it comes through in the spring/summer.

We had problems with geese in my yard when I was in college. It didn't bother us much , but a guy across the bay grabbed one and put it in his BBQ pit and turned the gas on. A neighbor reported him and he got arrested.

Yep, all year long. Seems to be especially in the summer, but maybe it's just because that's when I notice the most.

Get some very small bream hooks and string them out on some fishing line like a trout line. Bait the hooks with corn out of a can. Have baseball bat at the ready.
