I think that has to be in question. One or two just does not show up at times. How do you explain 5 pts from your best player last night?

Disagree on this. Our talent is not on par with what we have had in the past or with the top SEC teams. Besides Barrett and Jones (who has become much more consistent this year), I don't think we have the players to compete with UK, UT, UGA, etc. We have no real consistent scoring threat, no consistent outside shooters, and no aggressive defenders. Forthan will be a very good player with more experience. What I don't understand is why Nikki refuses to come out of the zone when teams are killing us with 3 point shooting. The strategy over the past 5 or 6 games from opponents has been to put all the shooters on the court and bomb away from the perimeter pressure LSU up the court and get turnovers, and it's worked. Arkansas hit 8 3s, ETSU hit 10, Florida hit 7 the first game and 6 last night. There seems to be very little fight or toughness in this team at all.

My only problem is that NO WBB coach is worth 900k a year. If we are going to suck at a sport nobody cares about.. Lets suck for 200k a year coach not close to a million. Hell and Im being nice saying that a WBB coach at any level deserved 200k.

I knew this shitty thread was going to come up at some point after last night's game. I am surprised that it took this long. I love some of the responses from some people here who know nothing more about the program than what they pick up and read about in the paper the next morning. I have been attending these games for years and have followed the away games either on TV or radio. I would like to think that I have a little bit of 1st-person insight as to what is going on.

1) Caldwell makes $700K, not $900K as noted in the OP. At least get your facts straight.

2) Yes, she is pregnant. NO it is not a distraction. She still coaches her arse off during the game. To say her pregnancy is "a distraction" is aimless, pointless, random message board speculation based on ZERO first hand knowledge.

3) It has become apparent that she did NOT inherit a great group of players from Chancellor. Despite her efforts to "coach them up", they still make some of the same mistakes they made last year, they still are not great shooters and they still seem to all play with less than 100% effort sometimes. Van had those problems last year...and Caldwell is having the same issues this year.

4) The loss of Hughes at point guard has been borderline catastrophic. She was starting to score in double figures, was the best defender, and was the best at handling the press. When she went down, they had to move people to play in positions where they were not as comfortable and it has been a mess.

5) Speaking of Hughes, she was probably the one senior this year that was showing the most improvement from the new coach, and she goes down. Jones has gotten somewhat better...Barrett has the physical skills to be a superstar, but she has disappeared the last 5 games or so since Hughes went down. Black and Turnbow are very average players at best who are no better now than they were as freshmen.

Is the team a mess right now? Pretty much. Will it get better on Sunday when Kentucky comes to town? I doubt it...Kentucky is a pressure team by nature and it could get ugly.

The talk that Alleva screwed up...and made a bad hire...and that Caldwell will not work here...is just typical Rant bullshite. If you want to bitch about Alleva, then go ahead...but this hire is not the defense to such rants. Take it somewhere else.

Van failed to recruit any point guards who could "run the show" as a floor leader! lack of a true point guard is(and was under Van) the biggest problem for LSU women's bb

Pokey could lick the WBB program back into shape.

JA was a bad hire.

Agree with all. I would like to see us go a little more man-to-man defense...but I defer to the coach who knows her personnel. I commend the Arkansas and Florida coaches for their game plans vs. us. Both coaches did a good job of scouting our weaknesses without Hughes and then exploiting the crap out of those weaknesses.

The lack of toughness from this particular group is the most depressing part...and like i mentioned in the last post, those kids have been that way all 4 years, under both coaching staffs. Nikki has talked many times in interviews and on her weekly radio show about trying to get the team to be tough and wanting them to outscrap the other opponent...so she understands what is needed...it just isn't happening. I think there just comes a time where you blame the players. It isn't always the coach's fault.

These jokes got old like 5 years ago. I am sure you thought you were being original and hilarious all at once, but you failed at both.

Post complete sentences,..abbreviations don't cut it...besides, hope your boss doesn't evaluate you on your job like you want to evaluate these coach's...IN other words, get a life, and DO YOUR job, and quit wasting your boss's time...

We need another wbb coach that is a superior coach on the court and in the bedroom.

I think she's a pro in the bedroom it would seem.
No lack of scoring there.

Maybe its a distraction. She could relinquish the coaching to her assistants until after she has the baby. Just a thought.

What galaxy do you people come from because you're not from this planet?

I'll be sure and pass the memo to her that she's not allowed to have children while being coach, because it disrupts catnip's enjoyment level of LSU women's basketball.

"bad timimg on pregnancy"/ what a moron!!! I am not a big fan of wbb, but I do keep up when on TV, etc. this is caldwell's FIRST year--she is moving from one conference to another, and learning it as such. Give her a chance to get her own recruits--Chancellor didn't leave her much--when you lose your point guard, it hurts. Ask trent, who doesn't have one !

Yes and the SEC is very strong this year. Give them time to recruit and build the team. Also her system is very different and they need time. I am disappointed too. But like I said, the SEC is very strong. They are behind a bit

Is it so difficult to write out everything instead of using 'mb', 'wbb', 'JA', 'bb'?

You rant for 4 lines and can't spell out the words?
