re: Snap Judgments: The Miles Legacy
Posted by shrevetiger53 on 7/7/15 at 1:17 pm to dukke v
This is his legacy to me--Miles is a solid citizen, who has represented my university well, and is a great recruiter. He has won a NC in 2007, should have won one in 2011, but didnt because of his being stubborn. The 2011 team is probably the best one he will ever have, but fell short. He is a terrible game manager, and seems to have sections where he will "zone" out--but his positives outweigh the negatives.

apparently danielle, while talented, troublemaker extraordanaire--might be good riddance-womens basketball--Yawn-who cares?
re: Paul Manieri and throwing college kids under the bus

Unfortunately, this college world series backed up what I have thought all along--PM is a lousy game manager, and it was magnified on this stage. Poor pitching choices, etc.
But regardless on how bad he is, (gamewise and personally)--if you don't hit, you can't win.

re: Did Yesterday Look Kind Of Similar to The BCSNC against Bama?
Posted by shrevetiger53 on 6/15/15 at 1:06 pm to RANDY44
Not even close--if you can't hit, you can't win-TCU pitched well, we didn't--Frogs put the ball in play and we didn't--
re: Who gets drafted first Martin or Mickey?
Posted by shrevetiger53 on 6/3/15 at 1:37 pm to TerrebonneTiger35
I think there there is a good chance it is neither--free agent or overseas---Martin is the better prospect because of his offensive skills. Staying another year might have been good for both---
re: Could the Tigers have won it all last year?
Posted by shrevetiger53 on 6/3/15 at 10:47 am to mostbesttigerfanever
amazing--we are gearing up for an Omaha run, have great recruits in basketball that will lead to an exciting year, and you put up a thread about Jefferson, the worst QB in LSU history? I think the best record from last year was what they got, 8-4. this record was not all due to jennings--he was lousy, but defense tackled air a lot.
re: Jared Foster appealing
Posted by shrevetiger53 on 5/12/15 at 1:12 pm to Slapouttiger
i dont know all the details about J foster's situation, but I will say this--he has no one to blame but himself, and as a senior, should know the drill on how to pass a class. As for the appeal of his grade, forget about it--won't happen.

anybody but a directional school---how about Michigan?
re: SDS Article: Five best LSU football teams of all time
Posted by shrevetiger53 on 4/10/15 at 11:27 am to Chimlim
5 teams of all time:
2011
1958
1969
2003
2007
The 1969 team was a tremendous team that lost to the magician archie manning-26-23--they stayed home from bowling because of Notre dame deciding to do away with their bowl restrictions--Cotton Bowl screwed us since they got the Irish, and we decided to stay home. remember, not near as many bowls back then as now. An all-time great team!!

maybe Johnny can hire an asst coach that can help him with game management, substitutions, and time outs------hmmm, Les needs one too!! a two for one hire!
re: With both M&M's likely leaving, how do we look next year?
Posted by shrevetiger53 on 3/25/15 at 1:16 pm to SanFranTiger
My line-up if M&m boys are both gone:
Quarterman, Hornsby, Blakeney, Simmons, & Victor-when eligible. Patterson off the bench to shoot, and Gray in for small doses. I never understood how he averaged 35 a game in JC--cant shoot a lick. If newman signs, a great addition to guard position. Epps can play--just needs a chance, don't know what is wrong with Robinson, and malone needs to be the 14th man on the bench--seems like a great kid, but can't play at this level. TQ is one of the most improved players from year to year that I have seen.

re: It's time for Johnny Jones to take a long look in the mirror
Posted by shrevetiger53 on 2/18/15 at 2:47 pm to texastigerr
Dawas not a very good game coach, but he could recruit and fire up players--I don't see JJ doing much firing up on the sidelines--perhaps he is hoping for a leader to emerge from the players. The problems we have are the same every game, poor interior defense, free throw shooting, and outside shooting. The off rebounds we give up are atrocious--If martin & Mickey think they are ready for the NBA, they need to watch some game tape--no way are they ready--I hope they dont have entourages whispering in their ear.

News Flash from las Vegas!! the kentucky game is a rout! It will be a hammer job by the wildcats, and they will dance off our floor. I just hope the tigers can keep it under 30. turnovers, poor free throw shooting, missed layups, and bricklaying from outside will doom us.
I am poormouthing to try to reverse the mojo, but I dont think it will work.

re: continuity in the basketball program
Posted by shrevetiger53 on 2/6/15 at 3:56 pm to Pnels08
I certainly dont think that we need to get rid of johnny--good recruiter, good guy, LSU man, but he has to start stressing fundamentals--we cant even get the ball inbounds this year, and this is every game. I also have a newsflash for J. martin nad J. Mickey--if they think they are ready for the NBA, they are NUTS! the league already has enough bricklayers, and certainly doesnt't need 2 more. Unfortunately, with poor free throw shooting, poor outside shooting, and bad interior defense, we are NIT bound.
re: All is not lost: RPI still at tourney level
Posted by shrevetiger53 on 2/2/15 at 1:44 pm to TigerRoad
Unfortunately, we have put ourselves in the position where we almost have to beat kentucky or take them to wire in order to make tournament. We have encountered 2 of the worst losses of any team this year with losses to a horrible mizzou and Mstate. Also, Mstate could have one of the lowest RPIs in NCAA.
Anyway, unless we find some outside shooting and interior defense, it wont make any difference.
At Least A&M keeps winning--------------

re: Favorite quote from ESPN or the like regarding LSU and Tiger Stadium?
Posted by shrevetiger53 on 9/4/13 at 2:45 pm to MikeTh3Tiger
for me, it was probably 2007 florida--I have been there for many years, and that was loudest ever. Honorable mentions go to 2003 Georgia-(the L-S-U chants still give goosebumps, 2002(?) overtime win over tennessee at home--incredible, and the 1972 win over Ole Miss on the Jones to davis TD pass with one second left. Running on to the field after that miracle win was super--You couldn't hear anything!
BTW--Billy cannon's run was 89 yards, and in 1959!!

great list metry Tiger, but 1964 ole miss was at night, and 83 washington was at night--anyway, great memory list!!
re: Small ball baseball=four corners basketball
Posted by shrevetiger53 on 6/17/13 at 3:17 pm to More beer please
a hit and run on 2-0 count--debatable on that call--2-1 is better H&R--once rhymes turned to bunt, pitcher threw 2 outside--he should have continued to square up until their were 2 strikes, and then still try to bunt on 3rd strike--The Bunt was the play there, no doubt. Also, if you are going to hit and run, should'nt the batter hit behind the runner? That means to right field--not a pulled pitch-I dont think the pitch was outside like a lot of ranters are saying--a hit and run requires contact to protect the runner-a foul ball on a inside pitch is accepatable--but bottom line is--the bunt was the play regardless of who is at the plate. Again, a poor game decision by Mainieri.
re: Small ball baseball=four corners basketball
Posted by shrevetiger53 on 6/17/13 at 10:58 am to PurpleAndGold86
Mainieri needs to learn the bunt--not having Rhymes bunt in 9th was terrible--turns to bunt twice, has a 2-0 count and then Mainieri takes the bunt off--double play. Rhymes unfortunately has turned into a double play king--you have to bunt regardless in that situation, even with 2 strikes! A poor coaching decision.

I would hope the Ben V. statements are jokes--he was horrible. I like your team, but Tyrus thomas cant hold a candle to John williams, Dwayne Scales, or Ricky Blanton. If you want to go way back, Al"Little Apple" Sanders was a great rebounder. Of course, who could forget Kenny higgs or Floyd Bailey. A good back up point guard could be Derrick taylor.
re: Question about Nebraska game in 1976, did we get robbed, any film?
Posted by shrevetiger53 on 2/13/13 at 3:10 pm to Topcat
I was at the nebraska game and i swear that Mike Conway's field goal at end of the game was good--I was also in student section and it appeared good to me, but anyway--it was a great ballgame and nebraska was stunned we played so well.
