See, LotR is my all time #1 trilogy. If I could count them as one movie, it might break into my top 5. Top 10 for sure though. But I couldn't pick just one (though if I had to, it would be Two Towers).
I dont see a problem having a trilogy as one spot. Its meant to be considered one continous movie/story anyway.

I didn't do that with Star Wars. I think it is cheating. But I am saying this to the man with 20 movies in his top 5 list.

Well, it's three movies. So there's your problem.

There are way, way too many movies that fall under this for me.
I'd say there are maybe 10-15 that I can do this with. There are movies I can watch several times like for example "The Green Mile" or Shawshank, but if I watched either of them on say Monday, no way I could do it again tonight, probably not for at least another 6 months at least. The 5 I chose could be on right now and I finish it, and see it's coming on one of the West Coast channels an hour later and watch it again. That's how I made my list.

I remember when I was in college, Signs was on HBO for a month constantly. Every day I came home from class, it was on. I watched it every time. In no way, shape or form is Signs a great movie, but it just is one of those I could watch no matter what.

this keeps happening. I always miss some crucial moment of potential discussion with you: first Winter's Bone, then Picnic at Hanging Rock, and now Walkabout.
edit: I wish Winter's Bone was Australian so that there would be some slot machine triplicate pattern going on

You should watch Roeg's Bad Timing, now that's a fricked up movie!
From you're list I still need to check out Belle du Jour & La Dolce Vita.

You guys and all your rules
The intention of my list was that on any given day one of those movies in my 1-5 listing could be my favorite movie for that grouping. Hitchcock, Kurasawa, drama/misc, comedies and kids/nastolgia.

I definitely will. The editing and cinematography in Walkabout was mesmerizing.
