Thanks to TigerDeacon, I started reporting my sightings. I got an email this morning with the results. I lack the ability to save and post the map. Here is the link with the results showing sightings across the South.

I think i may have some flying around by my house in Metairie. I can't really tell but its some bird of prey and its smaller than a hawk. It looks close to that color.

If you see one, you'll know. You will rarely see them flap their wings, and there's a reason they're called a swallow-tail.

A Mississippi Kite and a Swallow-Tail Kite are two different species.

That would be strange. They normally don't arrive back in Louisiana until the 2nd week in March, & will stay through late September before heading back to South America. Would be interested in hearing more about the nesting pair in BR.

Yes, every one. Can't recall all of them. Some on I-49 South of Natchitoches. Some near Boyce. One on the other side of the Red River coming back from St. Maurice.

Yeah, I know. Just seemed that the OBer I was quoting was not quit sure of ID of the birds in Metarie.

I'm a half vast birder. Hope to make it to Ft.Morgan, Al for spring migration.

the Sabine and Neches rivers hold quite a few, from what I've been told. Have seen them near the Trinity river too.
