One reason why LSU fans took the title game loss so badly

LSU was 2-0 in football title games and 6-0 in the CWS final.

LSU fans have never experienced a loss at the highest level (besides basketball at the final four but everyone should be used to that).

We expect to win those kind of games and that's a great thing. At least it seems like most have healed and 2012 should be great.

It might have had a little influence, but the fact that it was bama (who we already fricking beat) and we were outgained 384 to 92 is what truly made the loss so damn painful IMO

It was also the first time we'd lost any game in over a year and the first time losing in the dome in a long time.

03 and 07 were great and I'll cherish them forever but they had those losses during the season. 03 was a split, and 07 was the two loss thing.

This was the REAL DEAL and it slipped away. Say what you will, not all NCs are equal, and undefeated NCs are the cream of the crop. Losing out on that hurt the most IMO.

This is very true. There was a motto here that LSU never loses championship games! O well

There's some truth to the notion that the fanbase is spoiled, but the fact that the game was never close and there wasn't anything to at all to feel good about is more likely the issue. I felt the game would hinge on a few key plays, but LSU was outplayed and outcoached in every phase of the game. I left the Dome and wasn't angry or upset, just depressed because the team/staff didn't show up.

1) As you said, we hadn't lost before
2) It was painful since our O never showed up
3) It was Bama (and we may never play them again in a game of this import, meaning we can never get revenge)

If lsu would have lost with points up on the board I wouldn't have been as depressed.

I'm still not over that game... That game kind of changed me as a fan. I had so much anticipation and was so pumped to watch it... Then I had zero to cheer for and had to sit through hundreds of my friends and co-workers, and even people I don't know out here, sly remarks and shite. It was the worst game I've ever seen, I don't want to think about it, hear about it, or read about it. I've actually not watched ESPN or sports outside of the Saints game since then. Yeah, I may be taking it a little extreme but I seriously felt let down and disappointed enough that I take offense to it haha.

And it's not the losing part, I feel like we didn't even show up... Didn't even fight for a win. Not one point after that first drive did I feel like we had a chance to win. I hate sports haha

Something else that I feel like made it worse is how much I felt like we deserved it and how much we stood to lose... We were being talked up as possibly one of the greatest college football teams ever, we dominated one of the hardest schedules you'll ever see, including the team we had to face in the last game, and then it was just the end of the road. Just like that. Season over.

I almost feel like it would've hurt less if we already had a loss going into it..maybe so expectations wouldn't have been so high

Thank goodness LSU is 0-3 in final fours, or I would feel really lousy.

I don't know why I bother clicking on this type of drool.

I feared a loss was likely after seeing the winner of the regular season game only won 6 of the 19 previous re-matches in bowls. Plus, the Nov. 5 game was very tight & 1 play going differently would've turned the W to an L. I'm never going to forget the recycled game plan which clearly wasn't going to work starting in the 1st qtr. Plus, the refusal to give Lee a shot. Miles phoned in 5 weeks of prep time & stubbornly refused to deviant from it when it was failing horribly.

You know how everybody has the nightmare where they're either running from something or somebody and ultimately get stuck, or running as fast as they can but moving extremely slow or the legs just don't work? Sometimes it's that you go to shoot a gun and it jams, or you have a one time shot to throw a punch and you miss. It's different but the same common theme.

Well, that nightmare came to life on Jan 9th, 2012.

once again... you and many others are wrong.
no matter how you spin it.

we quit / surrendered
we did not use all of our weapons
we did not prepare as we should have
we did not give it our all

end of story
