Bama is in that catergory along with Notre Dame USC Oklahoma and maybe Michigan.

There is no "maybe" with Michigan.

They are Tier 1.

See the Sugar Bowl they were gifted this year, along with the fact that their victory was never once put in the same category as our win in the "Game of the Century".

According to ESPN logic, Michigan not only lost the Sugar Bowl, they were dominated....

Yet not a word...

THIS. People saying no are acting disingenous and butthurt. LSU would have fallen no further than 3 like Alabama did. Each and every team just ahead and behind Alabama lost games in the following weeks with Stanford, Okie State, Oregon, Boise State, and Oklahoma all going down AFTER the Bama/LSU game. LSU would have been a firm and strong #2 after the final vote if they lost on Nov 5th.

I think we would have been in...

Wins over Oregon, West Virginia, and Arkansas were huge.

We had the toughest schedule in the country, hands down.

Of course we would have. The media was prepping for it before the game.

Most outlets said that LSU had a very good chance to earn a rematch if we lost a close game because of the strong schedule and having to play at Bama. In fact, most said that an LSU win would mean no rematch, but of course that wasn't true. And I wouldn't be surprised if we would have won the rematch in that situation.

While LSU may not be tier 1 historically, we're tier 1 now. That's why CBS kept us from having a night game in Tiger Stadium--we were way too good for their ratings.

Only for Bama.

Had we lost... "Not SEC Champs and had there chance"... We would have heard that. It would have been Bama vrs Okie St.

Pretty dumb to rehash this... But I responded and accept my part in the stupidity

No and we would have gone 11-1 and soundly defeated Michigan in the Sugar Bowl and the whole tone of this board would be different.

Nov. 5 - worst LSU win in the history of the program (sarcasm intended).

we would have got a 2nd chance at them in the NCG?

No way to prove it, but I doubt it. We were expected to lose on 11/5. What would Bama prove by beating us again? Bama should have played the conference champ of arguably the best, or clearly the second best conference.

Of cousre that line of reasoning didn't matter for us.

Also, If OU or UT would have had OSU's resume they would have been in the game.

No. We'd have finished 2nd in the West and there is no way the media salivates enough to put LSU in the mix over Okie State.

If there would have been a playoff, I think we would have definitely got in there. But the BCS, no way.

like okie state's did??

it would've depended if ESPN wanted us in the game or not.

i can't say, after seeing how this season played out and how much the regular season was ignored, that we would've definitely gotten in.

it would've made more sense for voters to follow '06's lead and not have a rematch if we'd have lost.

NO! Bama would have played Oklahoma State in the BCSNCG. LSU would have played Michigan in the Sugar.

Almost certainly. But you'll never convince some of the numbskulls on this board of that.

Yes we would have. If people say no they are just looking to be butthurt.

Okie State lost to Iowa St. and that was the end of it for them. It was great media to have the argument - but voters had decided after that loss that the cowboys would be out. The gap between them and bama never closed, that's just fact.

The media's obsession with Saban is like Obama, We were going to play Bama in the NC no matter what. My biggest gripe is that they didn't have to go through the schedule we did to get there.

And had we played Alcorn St., N. Texas, Utah St., School for the Blind, like Bama, they would have never put us in the NC even though we beat Ark, Oregon, etc...
