Highlights of prime Roy LINK

Money May LINK

Roy did everything all wrong from a technical point of view but he could get away with it because of his speed and his reflexes. Floyd is a far better technical fighter but he isn't the offensive fighter that Roy was and didn't have the punching power of prime Roy. Who do you have as the better fighter during their prime?

i've never seen floyd play in a semi pro hoops game before beating down an opponent. not that the jacksonville barracuda were much but still pretty impressive

I've never seen anyone as quick as Roy Jones. He made his opponents just look stupid. I'd go with him.

LOL at all of these votes for Roy Jones. He was athletic as sh!t but he looked way better than he was because of the tomato cans that he fought for 90% of his career. When he lost the smallest amount of athleticism, he went to sh!t.

Mayweather is a different type of fighter who relies more on defense than athletic ability. He isn't as "flashy" or pretty as Jones in the ring, but way more effective and a much, much better boxer.

Jones had athleticism and that's about it.....Mayweather has athleticism + the defense, which is the reason he's still #1 at 34 and Jones was done at 34.

Mayweather can lose some of that speed, reflexes, etc. but he's a skilled boxer and that is what keeps him at the top of the P4P lists. Jones was a flawed fighter so when he lost speed, reflexes, etc. he became an average fighter.

We're talking p4p here and RJJ started in the JO @ 119lbs, and is now (and has been) fighting heavyweights. He's only 2-3 inches taller than FM, with a 2 inch reach advantage.

P4P RJJ all day. We're not talking who's the more technical fighter or who has the prettier record....

RJJ was a great boxer, but benifited from weak competition his whole career as well

2 completely different fighters

Money's vastly better technique allows him much, much better longevity but makes it "appear" as though his peak wasn't as dominant since he doesn't just Tyson people.

I'll take Mayweather Jr

RJJ

You can't really criticize him for his resume...Floyd doesn't exactly have the finest resume in boxing history.

Floyd is the better boxer. As somebody who boxes, I can see it more clearly than others.
