If you were fighting to hold on to a legend, you may act the same way. They are simply pining for the old dominant ways of the past. Their insecurity has caused them to claim phantom national championships and act desperately. Now that they are simply a normal football program, they are having a hard time with it. Hopefully LSU will continue to further cement this reality

I agree, but I would also say every school has these three groups. What makes Gump U so special is the bottom two groups are bigger because they have NOTHING else in the state.

You lost to an undefeated team and you shouldn't be there. But it is done and we will send your butts back to Bama beaten by the undefeated team one last time. But we all know yall including your coach will whine and cry about a call or a ref or the turf was so ruff it chafed your lil hineys. I just cant wait.
And 11/5 cost Alabama the SEC champion.

Yes they are.....I can't tell you how many times I've talked Gumps into the ground and caught them not knowing their football. They definitely are overly cocky and think that LSU has no chance at the "re-match."

No, not all of them. In fact, a lot of my friends/co-workers who are Bama fans aren't that confident about the game next Monday. I really didn't hear a lot of bitching for them either after the game in November. I mean, yeah they bitched about the kicker but what would you expect? They gave LSU plenty of credit for that win and took the loss a lot better than I thought they would. Are you mainly referring to the Bama fans who post on this site though?

I have met some pretty good Gumps, I talked to several in N.O. before the GOC #1 and they were giving LSYU props. They thought the GOC would be a close game that could go either way. I was shocked!!!

You could ask the same question about any fan-base (for example UT here in Austin...).
