After watching bowls, LSU and Bama are clearly two best teams

I know this will cause heartburn for some, but after watching Oregon, Wisconsin, Okie State, Stanford, etc the past few days, it's clear that LSU and Bama are in their own league.

I realize that we have already beat them and I would normally be opposed at a rematch, but when LSU and Bama are so far ahead of the field I have no issue with the two best teams playing for the BCSNCG.

Well, I was a little butt hurt for several weeks and didn't feel Bama deserved to be there. Now I have finally just accepted it. And after watching these horrendous defenses and gimmicky offenses shitting all over my tv this bowl season, I'm now completely onboard.

I don't know. I think some people are falling victim to the SEC supremacy. While LSU and Bama are the best two teams this year, the four teams that played in BCS bowls yesterday are very good.

Defensively I agree! However, I think if either of these teams had QB from Stanford, Ok State, Oregon, Wisconsin, etc. the BCS game would be a mis-match. Let's hope LSU QB's can get job done this time and BCS game should be a mis-match. Geaux Tigers!

They don't. The entire stated reason for creating the BCS was to increase the liklihood that the MNC would be determined on the field of play. With a rematch, the BCSCG is anything but. Don't buy into this "two best teams" BS.

An LSU blowout win will be the single best compelling argument for Div1 playoff in football! The NCAA accountants just have to figure out way to divy up the cash for everyone. Money talks! LSU walks - on water these days!

In 5 non-home games, Arkansas beat 6-6 Texas A&M by 4, 6-6 Vandy by 3, 2-10 Ole Miss by 5, and lost by 24 points twice. Arkansas is by far Bama's most impressive victory of the season.

Bama's second best win got blown out yesterday by the Conference USA Runner-up.

Um...if LSU loses to Bama that would be even more proof that these are the 2 best teams

An LSU win would detract from that argument, particularly if it's not a close game.

No, it's not. The expressly stated purpose of the BCS is "to ensure that the two top-rated teams in the country meet in the national championship game, and to create exciting and competitive matchups among eight other highly regarded teams in four other bowl games." That is exactly what it did, and what it does every year--put the two "top-rated" teams into the title game. By its own definition, the BCS achieving its stated purpose is a self-fulfilling prophecy every year.

This year it also happened to put the two "best" teams in the title game, and anybody with two eyes and a brain can see that.

Maybe. IMO, however, OSU actually has a better case than it had before. Bama's best OOC opponent lost to an overrated Houston and Bama did not beat the best team on its schedule or win it's conference. After LSU beats Bama a second time, OSU will have the better record and the better SOS. It will be LSU>>>>OSU>Oregon/Bama.

People overreact and fail to realize that a few bad plays/one bad game don't make a season.

Alabama has beaten NO ONE this year...Arky proved game after game they were a fraud...I don't want to hear it. Bama's best defense is a QUALITY LOSS. Had Bama fumbled away 14 points like Oregon did vs. LSU, we would throw them away instantly...

I have no reason to believe Alabama is better than Oregon, Oklahoma State, Stanford, etc...

It's too close to call, and the only reason people see a separation between Bama and the field is pre-conceived notions and overreactions.

This^^
I'm ok with the game as it is, it would hurt me really bad to lose this game (particularly since I live in Birmingham), but if asked I would say that these are the best two teams.

My real problem with the "eye test" is that it is often wrong.

In 1992 going into the Sugar Bowl, Miami was clearly the better team and was going to dominate Alabama.

In 2002 going into the BCS NC Game, Miami was clearly the better team and was going to dominate Ohio State.

In 2006 going into the BCS NC Game, Ohio State was clearly the better team and was going to dominate Florida.

In 2007 going into the BCS NC Game, Ohio State was clearly the better team and was going to dominate LSU.

In 2011 going into the BCS NC Game, LSU is clearly the better team and would dominate Oklahoma State.

Now, is that last one true? I happen to think that it is but, really, we'll never know. The others, however, were false.

Edited to change my cut and paste date fail.

You make some very good points. Preconceptions are what got 'Bama in the game and kept Okie State out.

But if Alabama had come to Baton Rouge and won 9-6 it would be Alabama vs Oklahoma State. You can book that. Talking heads would just be talking about how it proves that Saban is superior to Miles, LSU is not quite up to Alabama and on and on. There would be no call for a rematch.
