So - what are some good idea's of how to prepare them? He said they have been field dressed, but still have feathers, head and feet.
Thanks in advance!

What kind of Ducks?
How many?
Just don't stuff them with cream cheese, jalapenos, red onion, and wrap in bacon after marinading them in Italian dressing. If you want to do that just save the effort and buy chicken thighs to make poppers.
You can smoke em, smother em, or make a gumbo.
Depending on what kind of ducks and how many will determine what range of stuff you can do.

Doesn't sound like much of a friend if he field dressed them and still have feathers. Sounds like one big fricking mess.

regarding the type of ducks - don't know, he rattled off several names, but since I don't hunt, it went right over my head. And yes, I was hoping they would at least be feathered. . . .

Since to don't know what kind they are or where they're from, skin'em and make a gumbo
Usually even trash ducks are ok in gumbo

Can you take a pic and upload it when you get the ducks. I'm curious to see how someone field dressed them without plucking them.

He cut the abdomen and gutted them. Stupid since it's almost impossible to pluck them now without tearing the skin off. I'd make a gumbo with them.

Duck stews are always good.

I'd tell him to keep them. Seriously. That's like someone showing up to your house with a mess of fish that aren't cleaned.
And if I did take them I'd breast every one of them, because you are going to destroy the skin.
Considering the way he's giving them to you, I'm willing to bet two of the names are Spoonbill and Hooded Merganser...

Sounds like he killed them and then threw them in the fridge for a couple days. Then decided to clean them and was too lazy to pluck them. So he gutted em. Gumbo

"Hey Blacy, I've got some Drake Shovelers and some Hen Spoonbills to give you. I even gutted them for you."

I kind of had the same thought, it sounds like they chopped the head off.

Google Emeril's duck and andouille gumbo. Best use for ducks especially if you dont know what they are. Great recipe.

As with just about any wild ducks in my experience (no matter how dressed or what type of duck), it is best to just say thank you, then throw them away and buy a farm raised long island duck. That way you can get good duck you can cook with which actually tastes good, is not tough, and will have some meat on it. You don't just have to make gumbo (not that there's anything wrong with gumbo for sure).

Blackened duck is pretty good.. cut the breast out, get your skillet beyond smoking hot. roll the breast in melted butter and coat in blackening seasononing. about 2-3 minutes a side for med rare. slice across the grain...pretty good appetizer.

Well first off thank the person and don't look a gift horse in the mouth. If someone shows up at my house with a box of uncleaned fish or ducks I get the knife out and start cleaning.
If hunter is coming out of the marsh he field dresses because he has to show what birds he is bringing out or else he will be cited and ticketed.
Pluck, clean well and pot roast in a Dutch oven with salt and pepper.
And anyone else that wants to give fish or game away because they think their friend is a douche for not cleaning send them to me. I'm not that much of an a-hole and I'm not afraid to clean.
