You heard me.

J.B. "Ears" Whitworth, led the Crimson Tide to its worst three-year stretch in school history, posting a 4–24–2 record before being fired following the 1957 season.

What was the LSU's track record like when Miles took over?

Bama had 15 ties in 7 seasons??
well, actually these were "close losses" that bama fans thought could have been ties, if the field goal kicker had made kicks..

I love Coach Les Miles, but there will never be another Bear Bryant in the SEC.

Not unless they go back to 200+ player rosters.

Bear Bryant and Joe Paterno grew up in adjacent caves and rode woolly mammoths to school.

True story.

129 miles, one way, in the snow.

It was uphill both ways.

CLM is much better,so is Saban. When Bear coached there were no schollorship limits. He would recruit kids just so other teams could not play them. Can't do that today. Bear could not have dominated with scholarship limits.

Also McClendon at LSU did not recruit.Bamma had alot of Louisiana players on their squad.

Don't get me wrong Bear for his time was a great coach.

First of all, I'm not sure why the "LEGEND" of Bear Bryant hasn't been dispelled before now. The dude cheated worse than pre-death penalty SMU, yet he is idolized by douchebags everywhere.

It was only "cheating" by today's standards. It was the norm back then that EVERY University took part in. At least the successful ones.

And he's idolized by the entire nation. DWI.

there are several corrections in the thread. What's the actual win - loss and tie numbers?

Didn't realize paying players was legal even then.

So because others did it that made it right?

Haven't been out of Bama much I see?

Can't believe I never noticed that. That's the best bit of information I've learned all day, and I'm not being sarcastic.

This statement is fundamentally inaccurate. Gumps still look gay in it tho.

Looks like houndstooth to me. #FAIL

He did have some plaid ones too but I'm sure Johnny Cash didn't ALWAYS wear black either. Yet what do we associate him with?

Only thing is Johnny Cash didn't look like a douche.
