It is difficult to determine how good they are because of lack of competition in SEC East. Skewed stats. The QB likes to fling it around haphazardly vs. turnover machine defense.

To be sarcastic....There will be plenty of breakdowns on the Georgia Squad Saturday night.

First it will be assignment breakdowns. These will lead to one or two easy scores.

As we get into the 3rd and 4th physical breakdowns will occur.

At the end of the game they will breakdown and cry, maybe collectively.

Richt very rarely pours on points, and it should be noted that you played Florida and UT very soon after QB upheaval. That in and of itself could account for some scoring differentials. However, Vandy and KY were definitely let-down games for UGA no other way to look at it. Yeah not having any top RBs for KY mattered, especially since the two we did have kept gacking up the ball as well.

Basically, the UGA defense is quite consistent. They will usually give up a scoring drive early and then tend to shut down the opposing offense pretty quickly. Like I mentioned somewhere else, the second half stats of the D have been pretty impressive. The UGA offense is anything but consistent. When Murray is on point with his throws, it is a very tough offense to fully shut down. When he is off, the whole playaction goes out the window. As for playmakers, Murray can beat you with arms and legs. Charles is tough to single coverage, but when doubling up on him, you leave some young but very confident WRs one or one- Mitchell is fast and can beat just about anyone of a go route. King is also fast, but he and Murray simply have a hard time getting on the same page long- no idea why. Conley has really stepped up and is sneaky good. My favorite though is Michael Bennett- just amazing hands- check out his TD catches against UF- when he refused to let the UF defender grab the ball, against Auburn when he was diving and somehow twisted about 180 degrees in the air, and he also has an awesome third down catch earlier in the season against USC I think where he literally caught it with his fingertips behind him and held on when hit. I really haven't seen any of the receivers get thrown off their routes at the line either. They aren't really huge other than Marlon Brown. The RBs are capable, but have to show a lot more to be considered playmakers.

Basically, the strength of the UGA offense is in its ability and desire to hit anyone on the field for a big play or a third down. There is no star player that will be getting most of the attention. That is their biggest advantage- the LSU defense will need to cover everyone on the field.

IF Murray is on, I expect an exciting, close game. If he is off, then yeah, LSU will likely beat UGA by double digits. He tends to be off early on though and then gets into a rhythm.

I expect two TE sets and a FB kept in to help pass block though. although, strangely enough for a little fellow, coming in at 165, Thomas is actually excellent in rush protection.

who are the big playmakers on the georgia o?

I'm going to try to give an actual, legitimate, breakdown of the UGA offense.

Orson Charles (Jr) is a legitimate first round talent at TE. He and Aaron Murray (RSo) were HS teammates, so they have a pretty good connection going.

Charles is UGA's best offense weapon, followed by Malcolm Mitchell (Fr). Mitchell is very fast and a good big play threat, as he has been the target of a lot of Murray's deep passes this season. Michael Bennett (RFr) has great hands and has underrated speed. Made wonderful TD catches against Florida and Auburn. Chris Conley (Fr) has started coming on of late. He might have the most talent of any WR on the roster. Big kid, good speed and great hands. Caught a TD on a pretty fade pass vs GT last week. Marlon Brown (Jr) is a huge target who has also started to finally show up lately. He's not the fastest kid on the team, but is a good possession receiver and is tough over the middle. Tavarres King (Jr) has the talent to be great, but struggles with drops sometimes.

Isaiah Crowell (Fr) is an immensely talented RB who has great speed and power. Amazingly gifted player, but is often injured and has fumbled a few times this year.

Wild cards: Brandon Boykin (Sr) and Branden Smith (Jr) are both defensive backs who see some action on offense. Boykin is extremely dangerous with the ball in his hands with 4 career kick return TDs, a 42 yard TD catch against NMSU, and an 80 yard TD run on his first career carry against Boise State. Smith is a lightning bolt when he gets in space and will see some action at tailback out of the shotgun. He doesn't have the moves that Boykin does, but he has better straight line speed.

EDIT: This says basically the same thing as the post above, but I didn't see it until after I posted.

Georgia is just as talented as lsu, if you don't believe me, go have a look before you make yourself out as a fool.

I have had a bad feeling about this game for a few weeks, they have everything in place. I am hoping that our team speed is the advantage and that jj can find holes in their D.

They will be hard to run on.

Tigerterror had a good assessment. Dead on about Murray. Until about the UF game, he had a case of "happy feet" and would allow the pocket to cave in on him. He seems to have corrected that since. He often locked onto a WR and, yes, would throw into double and triple coverage. He also had moments of wild inaccuracy. Way over throwing or way under throwing a WR. He has improved in all facets as the year has progressed.

We have two probable 1st-2nd rounders on OL in center Ben Jones and OT Cordy Glenn. rest of the line is made up with sophmores and not much quality depth.

Crowell is very good RB...when he isn't hurt. Seems to always have something hurt and doesn't play as many downs as you would like your best RB to play.

Best trio of young WRs I have ever seen in the SEC. Two true freshman in Mitchell and Conley and a R-shirt freshman in Bennett. All ball hawks who attack the ball high in the air and very good at YACs.

Charles is a hybrid TE/WR. Very fast and fluid. Not the best run blocking TE we have though. And he will be good for 1 false start in this game. Don't be surprised if Aron White gets a few tossed his way also. He is a true TE and has great hands.

Blair Walsh once was a top FG kicker. He has plenty of leg but his head, or mechanics ain't right nowadays. Drew Butler is a solid punter, winning the Ray Guy award 2 years ago.

Kwame Geathers and John Jenkins are NTs that are formidable inside. Both huge and bolster the front line. They play alongside each other in 4 down sets and rotate in 3 down sets.

Abry Jones and garrison Smith are very large DEs in our 3-4. A lot of speed to go with size.

Ogletree is probably the best ILB to pass our way in a long time. Along with Gilliard, Robinson and Herrera...we are as deep at ILB as we have ever been.

Jarvis Jones is a stud at OLB. And Washington on the other side is solid.

DBs are very good...not as good as LSU's, IMO. Boykin and Smith are solid CBs, especially in man coverage. Our safetys are very good. Rambo is a ball hawk and covers ground extremely well. Williams has the size of an OLB (actually had to play at ILB early in the year due to injuries) and is great in run support.

Georgia's runningbacks wont do too much against LSU....Their corners are not that good and safeties are very soft and inconsistent. Best part is their oline and their front 7 ...they don't have half the depth we have though so we will run through them come the end of the third quarter ...

Jarvis Jones is definitely one of the top LBs in the SEC. Ogletree is solid as well.

Their corners are fast, but aren't the playmakers we have. Rambo is a big hitter at S.

Not sure about their DL, in the 3-4 the LBs are what shine.

Some Dawg will bash me for this, but I like our secondary against Murray. He's continued to make what I call "AJ Green throws," where he throws into double or even triple coverage hoping the WR comes up with it. It worked last year, it hasn't this year.

Crowell is good, but he's nothing better than what we've already faced.

Orson Charles is a beast. Our LBs could have trouble covering him.

Overall, I think this is one of the more balanced offenses we've faced. Their run game isn't as good as Bama's and their pass game isn't as good as Arky's, but they have better balance than either of those teams. Hopefully, we do as well as we did against Bama's rushing and Arky's passing.

Just what I've observed watching most of their games this year.

This is a pretty damned good assessment.

I'm pretty sure those are on the shelf for awhile still after the last debacle with them.

On cfl, pollack said their defense is the reason they are on a ten game winning streak.what offensive juggernauts have they shut down? UGA has benefited from not playing LSU, Bama and Arkansas to date.

THIS.

Weak wins on mediocre (at best) teams. Georgia outscored common opponents, 159-72 while LSU outscored common opponents, 230-44.
