Looks like Ender's Game starts shooting in Feb.

I know the moive has been rumored for a while but I never thought it would really get made. Not Quite sure how I fell about this. I think most of what made it a great book will not translate well onto film. Hope I am wrong.

Plus it will be spoilered for most people.
I also bet the dumb down the violence or the raise the age of the kids to late teens to avoid the outrage over violent kids.
I would love for it to work, but it seems very near impossible.

I am almost postive of this. I am sure Ender and the rest of them will be late teens, 16-17ish. (like what they did with the Percy Jackson movie). The problem is in Ender, the fact that the kids are so young is really important to the plot of the book and the message behind the book (whether or not you agree with it).

I think the only scene that is unfilmable is the shower scene. It's crucial to the plot and unless you are marketing the film to Jerry Sandusky, you have to change some important details.
I've heard the plan is to change Ender to about 10 in the beginning, which is doable without rendering the story invalid. You're still stealing a child away from his parents before the age of consent and before he really understands what is going on (not a spoiler, this happens in the first 10 pages).

Probably going to depend on how involved Card is with the film.

Apparently the kid they offered to be Ender.
And Summit thinks this will be their Potter......they are in for a rude awakening.
I can't wait for them to show the ritual evisceration of piggies and then have Xenocide retitled: Exposition: The Motion Picture
Seriously, have they READ the books?
The series doesnt translate to film well.
At least, the Ender quartlet doesn't. The Shadow saga might.

Outside of the Ender's Game, the rest of the novels are pretty bad. I have no intention of watching any of the other movies, if they are even made. And the less said about the novels from Bean's POV, the better.

Eh....they are pretty good IMO for their demographic.
Same goes for the Bean series.....who woulda thought geopolitical maneuvering on an international scale could be so convienant at times
Great books for an intelligent high schooler, not so much for an adult.
That said, Speaker for the Dead>>>>>>>>>Ender's Game, and frick you if you disagree.
I can see why Xenocide and Children of the Mind left a bad taste in many mouths though. Highlight of the two for me was the alien commentary at the start of each chapter in Xenocide.

I never thought this would go through...
I think the only way it could be true to the book is to be entirely CGI.
I feel like we need an extreme fan to make the move a la Peter Jackson with LotR. I hope they can keep it violent and keep the larger thematic questions in.
