The way Stringer talked they didn't play well in the scrimmage. Sure hope they can improve quickly. It also sounds like Malik Morgan will start with the four from last year and Shavon Coleman will be used as a sixth man off the bench at either 3 or 4. So it looks like a three guard two big men lineup will be used. Carmouchie is sick or injured so Corban Collins looks like the first guard in off of the bench.

This is what Johnny Jones said...
quote:
On starters for Monday's exhibition...
"We'll probably have a great chance of starting (Anthony) Hickey at the one, and Johnny (O'Bryant III) at the five. (Eddie) Ludwig would definitely be at the four spot for us right now. Andre Stringer has been really good at the two for us. It will depend on how healthy we are come Monday if anything will change by then."
Sounds like that 3 spot is the only one left open and if Carmouche is healthy he'll start the 2 in place of Stringer. I would like to think he'll start Coleman at the 3 with his experience over Morgan. Morgan is a guy probably best left coming off the bench with Stringer.

Coach Jones also said:
"Unfortunately for Shavon, we have had him working inside and out.
He's been playing a lot of power forward; he's very capable of defending in there. He's long. He's quick off the floor, a good athlete. He's very capable of shooting the ball from outside, and he can put it on the deck as well. Shavon is more of the combo guy inside and outside."
So he will also have to play the 4 because with Courtney injured we have no one else except Hammink who everyone says is more of a 2 or 3. Both JOB and Eddie have been prone to get into foul trouble. If Coleman is starting at the three who comes in to spell them when this happens or they get tired?
Remember we will be playing an uptempo running game. So no matter who starts there will be frequent substitution. I don't have the exact quote but elsewhere I read another interview with Coach Jones that said we would be running a guard heavy rotation.
We don't have the luxury of playing a traditional lineup because we just don't have enough big guys. Carmouche getting healthy won't solve that problem but Courtney getting healthy will somewhat.

courtney is always an injury worry. the main factor is o'bryant staying out of foul trouble and being able to go 30+ minutes consistenly as he is our only natural big. otherwise we'll have to turn to the tuba. we'll be able to use smaller lineups often outside of going up against the florida's, tennessee's and kentucky's on our schedule. most of our opponents will have similar sized lineups. i think coleman shifts to the 4 early to give eddie a rest and you'll see morgan come in (if he isn't starting...sounds like stringer is the starter at the 2 )

Anything new on Keith Frazier? Are we in it for him?
Posted on 11/7/12 at 10:22 pm to TigerScribe
We're in Frazier's final 5. That's all we know.

Anybody have any idea on what we'll do if we land Frazier and Trocha? Who gets let go off the current team?
Posted on 11/11/12 at 12:26 pm to BobBarker
trocha is probably uk bound at this point

No new news on his process (still hasn't set visits), but he and his advisor are very familiar with Johnny and like him both as a recruiter and coach (like the up-tempo style and the results he got at N. Tex).

Hope we hear good news sooner rather than later!

Are they still on Bridgewater? Where does he project if he signs, sf or pf? I guess it doesn't matter much in college ball, but that is a ton of frontcourt players to add at one time.. This team will be huge come 13-14
