I guess you're one of those people who need external validation of your own gut instinct - yeah, I guess you need to stop reading it.

History will not impact this game. Our ~100 players, plus coaching staff (and add in the TS crowd) will face off against their coaching staff and traveling roster for 60 minutes of game time.
The past is interesting, intriguing, important, and illuminating - I hold a degree in history, after all - but the past will NOT impact this game.
This is our time, our year and our championship. We knew months ago we were going to have to play Arkansas on the day after Thanksgiving. This is the next step on the way to 2 championships.

This thread about Les was nice though: Miles sends his condolences...

had WV not turned the ball over 4 times that would have been an LSU loss. I think we do the exact same thing to them, but don't turn the ball over and win the game.
This one made me chuckle!

I hear you, but I think the majority of the posters here don't feel like this game is going to be a walk for LSU. Honest question, do the razorbacks you know really think Ark is going to walk into Baton Rouge and pick up an easy win? This appears to be the prevailing thought on Hogville. The posters there like to point to all this historical nonsense to justify it, but they don't want to look at the reality of THIS SEASON. LSU has been more dominating this year than any LSU team in modern history (including our NC teams of 2003 and 2007). Arkansas has a loss by 24 to a team we beat and two close wins against bad teams. Where does this absolute certainty of a win come from? What I am seeing from them is: Arkansas has improved. Arkansas "matches up" better with LSU than Bama (whatever that means).
I don't mind fans having confidence in your team, but at least acknowledge (based on this season) that LSU will be a tough opponent.

Hell no...There is nothing in this game that suggest that. Do we have a chance to win? I think you would agree that we do...It will be our toughest challenge to date
I think the historical aspect is more of a feeling that we can win going into the game...most years, your talent outclasses us but are somehow able to compete and win the game...It's a mindset, something we don't have against a team named Bama

Again...I don't know how many times it can be said that we are just now getting healthy, especially on defense with two returning all-sec DE's...We had injuries at CB and S as well. I'm not going to make excuses for the 2 special team TD's and the tipped pick 6...those things happen

If Arkansas fans were the only ones saying this I might give you benefit...truth is they heard it listenting to some radio talk show or espn...hell, I heard Chris Lowe say it today
It will be a huge climb to win...but I give us a fighting chance.
Prize fight...Undisputed #1 vs #3 for all the marbles...gonna be good!

Easy? No. Win? Good chance. You guys think every year your team will just beat the piss out of us. The Hogs have stepped up and got the W. It's easy to be confident in this team's ability. It may not be pretty, but we've beat everybody that has lined up in front of us except for Bama.

Good chance, as in better than 50%? Why? Look at the results of what these teams have done this season. I would give Arkansas a chance, but not a "good chance" especially with the game being in Baton Rouge.

Disagree. This is the same "homerism" that is displayed by your fans against opponents weekly.

And we beat Bama on the road (handling Trent Richardson better than most teams this year by the way). So, now your "improved" running game is going to do better than Trent Richardson?
So why do you have a good chance of winning on the road (where results have not been good for Arkansas)?

no...not as a pure RB. But if he can get some yards it pays dividends in the passing game. I think you have to first understand is that we don't have an Alabama offense.

I guess its a confidence in being #3 and though the games weren't pretty, we finished 3-1 away from Arkansas

I think we have the athletes to go toe to toe with you and I think our coach is better, honestly.

You can disagree if you want to, but if you think your fan base doesn't think the Hogs should be an easy W every year than you are in the minority.

I never said our running game is better or will fair better than Bama's. I think our improved running game will help our exceptional passing attack exploit your defense. I didn't think the Cardinals were going to win the World Series in early August, but look what happened. It's possible for us to play lights out on any given day, whether at home or away.

That's cute. We're #1 and 6-0 away from Baton Rouge and aside from that time we played the best defense in the country other than ours and beat them in their own house, we won every game in a dominant manner.

You do not, particularly on defense and in the trenches.

From a pure Xs and Os standpoint, that's probably right. However, being the head coach at a major college program is so much more than Xs and Os, it isn't funny.

That's true - the game starts 0-0 and Appy State beat Michigan, despite having virtually zero chance. Vegas says ya'll have about a 13% chance, I put it at 10% - and I even think Arkansas is 1 of the 5 best teams in the country right now - there's just such a gap between the top 2 and the rest of the top 25. (In Little Rock, I would give ya'll closer to a 25% chance).

It's clear they have a collective migraine over trying to figure out the potential outcomes and what the best result for them is.
Heck, I got a bit of a headache over it myself.
