Dish Network vs Directv

I know Directv is getting rid of some channels and it got me looking at some of Dish's package deals. Does anyone have Dish? How is it? All the reviews online bash the hell out of it.
I am currently paying about $100 for HD & DVR
saw a Dish package for $50 250 channels and HD/DVR in both rooms.
TIA

Uverse has horrible DVRs I ran back to DTV after the trial with ATT was up, they still had never buried the cable in my yard.

Uverse is unavailable in my area

My buddies lake house has dish and it blows. Directv is way better. But if I could start over I would get cable/uverse.

Are you down here in BR? If so, how is it working? I'm moving next year, so I'm looking into picking up Uverse.

I've had Dish for about year and a half, and I'm really happy with it. No problems at all.

In saving alone I think I am going to do it. It also comes with a year free of the Blockbuster movie pass.

I had directv for over 15 years till last year when they blew one of my LSU football games.
I caned there arse! When to dish. Did I screw up BIG time. Nothing but trouble from day one. Screw dish. I could never get them to send someone out to unscrew things unless they had me pay a service call. Always lost service on a cloudy day. Not even rain. I even lost it on a couple clear days. WTF? They would blame lost on weather. WTF? On clear days? SCREW THEM! I'm back with directv again and I'm happy!

Same here. I got it because of the DVR that was bundled with it--better than anything else on the market at the time. Two rooms wired using just the one DVR as the master. I've got the HD package and the second tier and it costs $68 a month including DVR maintenance. Had a promo of $15 off for the first year.
Service is reliable, no dropouts or equipment problems and it's been more than two years.

they are not getting rid of the channels. they are in a contract dispute with news corp. dish network and comcast (i think) went through this last year. and someone else will go through it next year. once the dispute is settled the channels will be back.

I left Direct TV to save money. My monthly bill was up to $150 and seems they were adding an extra expense every month. I basically get the same package from Dish for &100 less per month )My initial package of free premium channels will expire in 3 months, so I will pay an extra $16 for HBO). I preferred the setup Direct TV had (ease of remote, better channel line up), but I get Blockbuster free for a year, so I canceled my Netflix subscription. My HD was free and they will throw in 2 DVR for free (Direct charged for DVR). It may not work for everyone, but it works for me.

You picked the perfect time to look into DISH Network because their new customer offerings are sweet right now. When you sign up ask about their free Sling Adapter offer: as long as you have internet service at your home and a compatible receiver you will be able to watch TV on your Smartphone and other mobile devices. I work for DISH and as a subscriber, I swear by this new technology because not only can I watch my DVR recordings, but I also have live TV anywhere I have access to Wi-Fi or mobile 3G network. Also, look into their free HD programming for life and their price guarantee until 2013.
