re: As good as Bama's front 7 is, does the Rant feel an athletic QB

what the hell game were you watching it was all JLee

While JJ brings a different set of skills the D has to prepare for, I just dont see him as a do/or die advantage. If we play hard, smart, limit our mistakes and do not turn the ball over, we win. We will see JJ, as someone else said, he runs, runs, runs, then he goes over the top or throws across the middle.

JJ had 13 snaps vs Au.
My bad on that point. It must have been the Tennessee game when he had a good number of snaps that I am thinking of.

It's really hard for a pass rush be effective against Lee when the ball comes out of his hand so quickly. Him moving the team has NEVER been a problem. Ints and his own defense were his downfall. This is not a problem so far.
And he has always had less sacks than JJ, so I don't think athleticism is the issue. In fact, Jj was the one hurt in the last two Bama games.

Our o-line and backs are even better this year
This.
LSU has a big OL (slightly bigger than Bamma's) and I think Alabama will be sorry they're running a 3-4 defense against it - especially when you include Copeland blockling for Ware or Hilliard.
They may have great LBs, but they'll need help from the safties - opening up the passing game for the Tigers.

bama fans seem to be more worried about JJ. majority of the rushing yds against them have come from more mobile qbs. so yes jj will play and will run the ball.

Here's the BOTTOM LINE to remember for this game.
Regardless of what defenses do to stop LSU, this year will be different in that the OC will react to it. If what LSU does works, LSU will stick with it. If what LSU does stops working, LSU will attempt to exploit the weakness in the defense's response.
Thank you OC!

JL and JJ in the game at the same time...it could happen.

I think both QBs will be needed. I was surprised that Les ran the Power I with Jefferson on Saturday, and the spread. But there again traditionally the power I is more of an option play optimizer.
I think its a film setup for the defensive cords in BAMA.
Also the quick release can be shutdown by BAMA pretty quick too - looking at the, Penn, Florida and Arkansas game BAMA was able to penetrate the O line and man-up on the receivers for no gains.
If anyone watched the Texas Tech game Saturday, I would love to see us do some of their plays, but again, we are traditional power teams - BAMA and LSU. Something will have to give, and I think BAMA's O will since they dont have as many weapons to play with.

Didn't we see another level unfold with the "replacement" backs last week? Would it be wrong to think they would see action and increase our running game options against Bama?

Bama knows he only looks at one receiver ...they can put 9 in the box...no amount if mobility is going to allow you to run on bama consistently when they stack the box that much

Really just depends. A QB who gets rid of the ball quickly, like Lee, can be effective as well.
Lee had improved his pocket mobility greatly over the last couple of years. He also has the quickest release in the SEC. Between that and JJ's run threat when he's in the game, 'Bama will become frustrated by the third quarter IMO at their inability to disrupt the Tiger's offense. They have not faced an offensive front (Oline and tightends) like this one. Also haven't faced a team with two pro-style fullbacks like Stampley and Copeland. It's a new day for the Gumps.

Lee's quick release has greatly helped them. It's easier to be fresh when not having to hold your block for 5 seconds on each play, or to help the QB scramble around. The ball is out of the backfield, and the block is then released very, VERY quickly this year.

I jsut hope we dont continually try to run the ball against a 8 man front the way we did over and over first half vs tenn.

the more and more i keep reading about each team and their strengths and weaknesses the more confident i am getting in this game. It may sound crazy but i truly believe this season has went exactly as Miles planned and a lot of what they have shown has been for a certain reason, and alot of it was to setup this game. Secret playbook anyone??
