As good as Bama's front 7 is, does the Rant feel an athletic QB

may be more necessary? I see the potential for Jefferson to get a very large number of snaps in two weeks. I think Les may feel this as well, which is why he has been pushing so hard to get JJ back up to game speed. What you think?

JJ's non-option isn't going to fool them.

Really just depends. A QB who gets rid of the ball quickly, like Lee, can be effective as well.

I will be shocked however, if they don't throw it over the top with JJ, after running him a few times.

No

we ran for 225 yards against them last year, w/o much of a passing game threat

this year R.Randle is a legit deep threat and they have to respect Beckham too. If not, we'll go over the top.

Our o-line and backs are even better this year

I'd say their d-line isn't as good (w/o Dareus)

Their LBs are great though

JJ got more snaps against Auburn than anyone else this year. He played like 30 snaps I believe.

This isn't a "who is better" Lee vs. Jefferson thread. It is more about, whether or not JJ provides an avenue for success against this particular opponent with his running and scrambling ability. Running from the pocket to pick up a 3rd and 12 could be huge in this game.

I don't think Bama will mistake JJ for a pure wildcat Qb. He might not be as good of a passer as Lee, but he is a Qb.

I expect to see a good dose of the run against Bama. We rolled up over 220yds on them last year. I don't think either team is drastically different from last year.

I think that JJ played less sat vs au than he did the previous two weeks vs fla and tenn.

You sure? He played a lot against UT, but didn't seem to play as much versus Auburn.

I think it might help. But we need to be able to get rid of the ball quickly too.

We will need both QBs.

I have to think Miles/StuD/Krags will throw in the kitchen sink for this one, which will include JJ plays we haven't seen so far.

It'll give all those JJ keepers (that put us in 3rd & long) some basis in play-calling logic, like the jump pass & last week's Randle throw did.

I agree. But it becomes natural to start to expect/anticipate something you have seen a few times. I think they'll run him first, to see if Bama will cheat. Then go over the top. Or run the option and have him pull up to throw.

I think Bama's front 7 are their strength. Running out of the I, with a fullback will be the way to exploit it. Now, JJ throwing, might be something, but his usual runplays aren't going to work on Bama IMO, they'll crowd, like AU did. Of course, they could get creative and have JJ follow 2 fullbacks, from the I, and see how that works for a few plays. I really think Lee, on play action/timing plays, are the way to beat Bama.

He took snaps in 1 second half possession at 11 mins remaining in the 4th qtr. Definitely saw less action than versus tennessee. Try again

Alabama's defense is overrated, just a tad.

Jefferson will be useful against them.

I would think he played closer to 10 snaps
If there was one game where JJ could really help out and be a difference maker this is it. Hopefully the coaching staff has something up their sleeve

with an athletic front 7, a pocket passer is better

no reason to try to scramble and run against an athletic front
