Preferably within walking distance of the Hilton at 1600 Lamar.

How about Mardi Gras Grill (1200 Durham Houston,TX 77007)?
This is a Houston LSU Alumni watch location.

I stayed there last weekend for the UFC fight (which was awesome btw) and was in the same predicament, its not walking distance but some chick told me go to a place called Woodrows,i think thats the spelling. apparently its an all LSU bar and all the LSU people go there for the game

This will be the only correct answer.

I went to Mardi Gras Grill for the Kentucky game. Calling it a watch "party" would be pushing it. It was weak.

Big Woodrows is your best bet

But make sure you go to Big Woodrows. There are several Woodrows around Houston. Two of them are in fact very close to downtown, one on the east end just across 59 from GRB and one in midtown. But BIG Woodrows is Chimney Rock @ Richmond.

The Houston Chapter of the LSU Alumni host games at Big Woodrows.
You will need a cab from downtown, but its the best place to watch the game.

Sorry for the bad advice. I have actually never been to this place but I keep getting Alumni Club emails about it. I can vouch for Big Woodrow's aka as "Death Valley West" as the sign says when you walk into the place.

I live in downtown Houston, and I can promise you there is no good place to watch LSU football downtown. I would follow everyone else's advice and go to Big Woodrow's on Chimney Rock (cab approx. $40). The cab to Mardi Gras is more like $20, but it's most likely nowhere near as cool.
Get there early to get a seat; otherwise, you'll be standing.
If none of that works, go to Flying Saucer. At least then, you can get some good beer to drink in celebration of our domination. Boom.

Horns play at the same time as LSU. Good luck getting audio for the LSU-Tenn game at FS.

I've been to Big Woodrows a few times. It is def THE spot to watch the games in Houston. I showed up at 4:30 for the WVU and was able to grab a table inside and downstairs. Not long after it would have been a lost cause. So I'd advise to go for lunch and stay for drinks and the game.

Christian's Tailgate on Whiteoak is a fun place to watch the LSU game. Woodrows gets really packed, but may not be as bad on a day game. Christian's is wide open, and big

Woodrow's upstairs is painted purple and gold, it is approx 1/2 mile of Westheimer on Chimney Rock. It has it all! All others are just host of the game. Woodrow's has the atmosphere and the people.
