but using history as a reason for why something will happen again in the present is being extremely lazy.
It's not lazy. It's looking at a historical trend to find any consistent truths. The truth has been that the Big-12 offensive statistics have been inflated facing in-conference opponents compared to OOC opponents.

So, when the media is basing the claim that OU is #1, they are using the "offense" as the foundation. The historical trend tells us that the Big-12 defenses aren't a fair comparison to some other conference defenses, and therefore, the claim might not be firmly supported.

Can one team break the trend? Of course. But with 10 years of evidence, it's a tough sell.

Look, I have no issue with Herbie having an opinion. If he thinks OU is #1, OK. He's entitled to that opinion. His justification is what gets under my skin. Had he simply stated, "I like OU as #1," I would have no issue. But "Here's why OU is #1" pisses me off! Compare the ranking of the teams played, stats from each game, and final scores, and is Offensive remark is BS. That's my reason for posting today.

Now, OU's offense is good! I do not want to take that away from OU. It's just untested against a solid SEC caliber defense. Until it is, I don't like his reasoning!

yeah maybe compare the teams playing this year. i mean skyler green was awesome but i dont think he's going to help us beat oklahoma this year.

Yeah,...well...if you look at my earlier post on page 3 of this thread you will see how I compared what LSU and Bama have done against 3 higher ranked offenses THIS YEAR...or is that not relevant enough for ya?

if it happens it will be because those teams are better, not because it happened in 2003 or whatever year you want to pick. i agree that LSU is better, but your logic is just flat out terrible.

That whole "learning from history" thing eludes you, huh?

Obvious troll is obvious.
