Chuck Carlton - Dallas Morning News Radio Interview

Chuck Carlton from the DMN just spoke on the local radio
to sum up, he says Mizzou is leaving for the SEC, they are not staying. Look out for whatever they release to the press this afternoon - anything at all, any statement that doesn't say "we are staying in the Big12" means they are leaving.
If they state they have given ___________ permission to make conference decisions, or exploring, or looking into the Big12 TV deal - anything at all means they are leaving
stay tuned I guess

What time is Missouri expected to make any sort of announcement following meeting today?

regular meeting starts at noon CT, but the executive session not until 4p CT. There's a press conference scheduled for after that, but I don't think it has a definite time

Despite what some people think, this is the best move for the SEC by far.

I think it's interesting that Delaney is sitting idly while Slive grabs one of the B1G's best expansion options...

I don't know why this is stickied. As written it's just speculation that is probably based on non MO sources. Given that the most probable outcome from this meeting since it was announced is that Deaton will be empowered to explore options, I don't see why anyone would see this as special.

see this further news about Carlton, from someone who DM'ed him about this radio statement (seen on mizzou's tigerboard):
"saying this:
"Not exactly. Chip asked me my gut feeling, if I had to make a prediction, and my response was that Missouri would probably go than stay."
2nd DM:
"As I mentioned earlier in the interview, nobody in the Big 12 really knows what to expect from Missouri today, including me""

right on then - I barely caught the tail end of the interview and just heard what Chip and E Hogan said that he said. I guess they pushed the envelope a bit as they rephrased his statement
my apologies if I mis-spoke

Can't belive the Big Ten is letting Mizzou slip away. Would be a perfect fit for that conference. Mizzou fans better be careful for what they wish for, won't be pretty.

The big ten turned down Mizzou and took Nebraska instead. So I think that spelled the end of Mizzou to B1G talk.

I think the Big 10 is stuck on waiting for Notre Dame before they pick up another option.
The problem with that approach is that Notre Dame just doesn't want to join a conference unless there is absolutely no choice - so while other conferences make moves the Big 10 is at least a temporary bystander.

Mizzou was one of my 3 favorites dating back to last years speculation. Would be a great pickup and could really inject some energy into the Mizzou program.

They're a basketball school that have been to zero Final Fours, no national championships in any sport since 1965 and have a football program that has little relevance historically. All in a largely apathetic college football market.
I don't doubt that their addition will generate some energy in the fan base, and they are certainly a better option than others that have been mentioned, but it doesn't make them the best move for the SEC by far.

FWIW, I think A&M and Mizzou are perfect additions...both have nice names, both bring nice TV markets, will bring more money to SEC schools, and neither team will be able to compete for SEC championships consistently.
seems like the best of both worlds IMO. Get the extra money but don't have to worry about another superpower added to the Big6.

Finally, someone posts something that make sense about MU.
