Best Restaurant on Magazine Street

I'm planning to take the wife to hang out all afternoon on Magazine St. on Saturday. The plan has been to have dinner at Gautreau's, but the earliest reservation I could get when I called last week was 8:30.
I still might still go there, but the idea of just staying a little more casual and eating on Magazine instead a little earlier is starting to sound like a good plan.
How about Martinique if I can get in the courtyard?

That's an amazingly vague question. Price range, part of Magazine, and type of food would help narrow down this list:
Coquette
Commander's
Le Crepe Nanou
Kyoto
Dick & Jenny's
Martinique
Bistro Daisy
Patois
Clancy's

We were in town two weekends ago and went to Mayas on Magazine. Near antique shops for wife and stien's for my beer needs. Many nicer places close between lunch and dinner but Maya's was open when we went by around 3.
eta: if time wasn't an issue we would have gone to lilette but they close from 2-5:30

Neither is Gautreau's, so a fairly safe assumption he doesn't mind walking a block or two.

Yes, Neauxla you read my request correctly. I was just looking for ideas of a place to hop into on Magazine for an early dinner while we are shopping, etc.
I have the Gautreau's plan for now(and no it isn't a short walk away tulane), but I might change my mind on that idea.

Gautreau's is a five minute walk from Magazine. Have Americans gotten so obese and lazy that a five minute walk is off-putting?
Pathetic.
Pathetic.

It is pathetic. Sad indeed that people think a walk that might expend 25 calories is enough to change or narrow their plans. New Orleans is a walking town. It's one of the benefits of living here.

I just responded to his query literally, and wasn't trying to delve into any deeper sociological issues. My bad, I guess.

He can't help it. He's a borderline troll so I try to ignore him.

Yeah I'd go with Mayas or Coquette again based on my experiences there

The Sea Bass at Mayas is unbelievable.

A walk from magazine to gautreaux's is possible. However, you probably never get laid if you don't think it may be a pain in the arse for a woman in heels to walk 10 blocks.

Good scallops.
Where on Magazine will you be shopping? Near Jefferson? Near Washington/Louisiana? or Near Jackson?

Magazine to Gautreau's is six city blocks. .6 miles. Tell her to wear comfortable shoes.
