Recommendations?

I was also thinking of trying Rivershack Tavern.

Any opinions about either place?

Don't be bringing this politically charged shite in here. Take it to the More Sports Board.

Harahan's sort of a right wing enclave, but I suspect Frank Brightsen, who's now the owner, may be a bit of a liberal.

Catfish & grits is the shite at Charlie's. Rivershack has a good burger: 1angus patty and 1 hot sausage pattie. Forgot what it's called...maybe the "Piss Out Your arse Burger" but it's good.

I have fond memories of Charlie's growing up. My dad brought home 15-20 lbs of boiled crawfish a least once a week during crawfish season. They were always hot and spiced just right. I'd recommend their boiled crawfish, but it's out of season.

Rivershack usually has one or two lunch specials listed and they are always great. Burger is good too.

Charlie's is just good all the way around. Never had a bad meal there.
