It's not really...probably not even an LSU grad, just trying to stir shite. Imagine if all that were allowed to attend an LSU game were LSU grads.....lol...how stupid is this thread? Sounds like an Ole Miss fan that is bitter because LSU has such a national following...lol

Lots of people in LA grow up LSU fans and like LSU regardless of what college they attend. Amirite?

I'm pushing 80-85% aren't alumni. In fact, I bet if you did a complete study, we'd probably rank in the top to non-alumni/fan ratio. I'm just talking about those who attend the games.

I grew up a Tulane fan in NOLA. Although I never really paid much attention to their football program aside from the '98 undefeated season. I was a big Tulane basketball and baseball fan though.
That being said, when I ended up at LSU for college, I had long since switched allegiances to the Tigers.

When were you at RPI? My sister in laws's brothers played football there in the late 90's. I also have a number of friends that went to your archrival, Union. Partied in Troy on more than a few occasions.

I was an LSU fan before I went to college. I was an undergrad at William Carey University ... no football team. I was a graduate student at Southern Miss. I support them when they are not playing LSU. When they are playing LSU, it is not hard for me to pull for LSU at all.

Being an L.S.U. grad isn't a pre-requisite for being a fan, (Google Alabama fan) but I can say with reasonable certainty that all the cretins who trash the campus (And surrounding areas) are not LSU alums and have never seen the inside of a college building except maybe when taking a whiz on game Saturdays. (If they're even lucky enough to find an open building)

Simple. I attended LSUA and LSU. I did not graduate because the then head of the psychology department (mid 1970's) told several of us that we were not going to get admitted to grad school for doctoral study because we were the wrong sex, wrong race, and from the wrong state (LA). You could get away with reverse discrimination back then. Instead, he recommended that we finish at a school with a graduate program that would take us. One went to North Carolina. One dropped out. Yours truly finished in Monroe, got his masters there, and his doctorate in Minnesota. My heart had been with LSU since Junior High School. I always followed the Tigers since 1966 in football, and never wavered. I certainly was not going to hold those dumbasses in the psychology dept against them. So while I went there for awhile, I had to do what I had to do for my career. I am in Louisiana, and making enough money to afford and have season tickets. Forever LSU!

For me, I gravitated towards LSU sports very early. Ironically, my first LSU game was one where they got spanked by A&M in the early 90's. To me I always felt like LSU represented Louisiana. When I graduated from high school in '97, I joined the Air Force. LSU became sort of my connection to home. I can vividly remember while I was in Basic Training, my dad sending me articles and news paper clippings of LSU's run and victory in Omaha.
I think for many, LSU is more than a school to Louisianans. It's part of our culture, and part of that whole Louisiana Saturday Night mystique. In my opinion, it's not important whether you attended classes on campus, but rather you joined in and support the school and what it represents. All one has to do is remember back that Arizona St. game some 6 years ago, to understand that as LSU goes, so goes the state.
Now, to answer your question, no, it wasn't hard to support LSU while I attended SELU. My view of them were completely different. SELU to me was just a school, whereas LSU represented something far greater.

if i were this guy, i might off myself
"But -- I went to every single home men's basketball game from 1989 through 2010. Every one. Almost all women's home basketball games from roughly the mid 90s on. Vast majority of home baseball games from the late 1980s on. Inhaled an ungodly amount of ballpark food in that time. Went on numerous road trips. Talked up UNO athletics to the point of nausea, I'm sure, to all friends and acquaintances during that entire time. Covered UNO athletics for three semesters at The Driftwood. Have roughly 10 gazillion UNO athletics pictures I've taken on my hard drive. Watch the Kansas City flippin' Royals every @%!# night to see Johnny G play second base in the major leagues.
I was the first person in the parking lot for the debut club football game. Numero uno (beat Shaun by three minutes!). Made sure I saved my UNO football shirt-wearing days for days when I would be out and around town, to make sure people would see it. While the current UNO Director of Media Relations "love(d) the empty seats" amidst that first incredible club football crowd, I lobbied Trahan hard to cover club football on WGSO and to get Benoit on the air. I lobbied the Picayune hard to cover club football."

Not sure if serious? Are you saying, Let non LSU Alumni from entering Tiger Stadium? Or, are you saying, Let them in the stadium, just don't talk to them when they are there?

I went to Northwestern State. Never even attended a football game and would never root for them against the Tigers. I barely keep up with them.

I did my undergrad at Northern Illinois, and I'm a grad student here...if LSU every played NIU I'd root for the Tigers and hope that NIU didn't get embarrassed too badly.

Graduated from LSU and UT. Cannot stand UT.

Grew up in BR, where I attended many LSU football games.
Attended USM, where it was very easy to remain loyal to LSU.

i attended LSU for 3 years before transfering to McNeese. Last year when LSU played them I did not hesitate to pull for LSU. LSU is where i wanted to goto school my whole life, transferring back home was not something I wanted to do but needed to do to get my life in order.
So to answer the question no it has not been hard at all to cheer for LSU at all times.

Ask anyone who went to LSU and moved away for a job, grad school, etc. LSU represents Louisiana. Its our connection to home. Its more than a school, its part of our culture. darkstarr_drgga got it exactly right!
