it is a good time to discuss things after these experimental friendlies.

obviously, central midfield is kind of a log-jam. i would like to know how you all want to see our central midfield develop. if you think that a central midfielder won't feature, can you see him somewhere else?

donovan and dempsey will/should feature in our squad through 2014 in some capacity.

left-back is banned from this thread.

I no longer think the problem is striker.
We have to find a midfield that works. I think Edu, Rogers, Kljestan at least should be taken out of the picture. Everything Edu can do, MB can do better and the other two just aren't cut out for this.
I think it's time for Landon to become a super-sub in most games.
I want to see more of Adu, just to see if the GC was a fluke. If not, he needs to be more involved. Torres was good tonight, but I was more impressed with Adu in the GC.

i would like to see less of orozco, and castillo. I'm on the fence about torres, and edu, neither really hit it for me. i think lichaj and adu have a lot of potential, i'd like to see them start intermittently. more bodies in attacking postion.

Is this a theoretical thread? or is this real life ?

Based off play and results of the past two games:

Torres, Shea, Beckerman, Chandler

Do without:

Fiscal, Castillo, Donovan circa 2011

Hypothetical, want to see:

Teal Bunbury, Fabian Johnson, Oguchi Onyewu (he has been awful. However, I think he can do a good job against CONCACAF opponents ..at least bring leadership), Charlie Davies (Shits n giggles.....if Chris Pontius can make it) , Alejandro Bedoya, and Mikkel Diskerund.

Hypothetical, don't want to see:

Bornstein's and Castillo's children.

too bad Eric Lichaj is hurt. fricksssss.

ETA: Honestly, we are just trying to find the role players. I really do believe. There is no way you can honestly try to win with some of the choices Klinsmann is putting on the roster. However, we had our chances but could not finish.

Just playing around with our roster, brah. Our A Team could consist of many more players.

As of right now. My 23 man A-Team =

Howard
Guzan
Bocanegra
Goodson
Ream/Gonzalez
Chandler
Spector
Cherundolo
DeMerit
Dempsey
Donovan
Edu
Adu
Feilhaber
Jones
Torres
Beckerman (my shocker)
Bedoya
Diskerund
Shea
Altidore
Agudelo
Bunburry

Take Beckerman out for Holden when healthy, and take Ream/Gonzo out for Lichaj when healthy.

cant tell if these frickers are serious that want less donovan. do they watch the same games as me? im not sure. brek shea sucked balls tonight compared to landy. it's pretty clear that landon is still a mainstay on this squad.

I just said Donovan circa 2011. He really hasn't found form for the US Squad in 2011. It could be said it's arguably one of his worst years. He will get his scoring touch back IMO. Just bad year. Pretty much hidden during the Gold Cup tournament then moved back to bench player. Missing wide open shots like tonight.

dude frick that. is he playing great? probably not. he will not be moved to the bench anytime soon. that's just ridiculous to think that. he was very average landon tonight and he was still probably one of the best 3 players on the field. that doesn't warrant less playing time whatsoever. i honestly think that anyone wanting less landon is just a fricking fool.

Landon is a mainstay no doubt but Brek Shea was more dangerous tonight. Landon played some truly awful balls.

Can Fabian Johnson play on the left? I think he plays on the right for Hoffenheim.

i was super unimpressed with shea tonight. the best player was clearly jose torres. and i thought altidore looked awesome as well. held the ball extremely well. i was watching castillo hardcore due to his prior performance and i actually thought he played pretty damn decent. im sure thats an unpopular opinion though. timmy chandler did literally nothing to impress me but id still like to see him some more. agudelo did fine. no one else really feels worth commenting on.

Are you serious about Castillo? I coach 12 year olds more composed on the ball than him. He's just awful and kills most attacks we try on the left. Shea played a couple nice balls and did well to put one on a platter for Donovan. Torres was really good. Altidore needs to make better runs but he held the ball up really well. Robbie Rogers still sucks for the most part.

Sheas run and little lay off to Landon was awesome. Other than that, nothing great but nothing bad. I hate Robbie Rogers so damn much. He looks better now, but he still blows. Not worried though bc stu, dempsey, jermaine, and Bradley will almost definitely eliminate his pt on a theoretical "A" squad. Can't wait to hopefully see stu and Torres in the middle together :boner:
