Other than that, nothing great but nothing bad.

The play he got the yellow on was pretty fantastic. He probably would have scored on it had he not taken such a heavy second touch.

I have to disagree with you on shea. He was a big part of many of the one twos and looks strong on the ball moving through traffic. He did seem to be on a different wavelength from Jozy but they haven't ever really played together.
Landon had one of his worst games tonight which seems to be the trend. He looked like he was having trouble syncing up with the younger players, played many bad passes, and of course missed the opportunity.
Liked what I saw from torres, but at times his defensive positioning was a little unsteady.
Castillo sucked. Rogers was almost as bad. Edu is serviceable at best. Jozy needs to stay the frick onsides.

I like your roster UA, but hopefully Demerit isn't still someone we need to depend on. How old is that dude?
Before you read this, know that I did not watch the first 30 minutes (so it's my fault we sucked the rest of the game.)

I would give donovan a 4 for his performance last night. It's still obvious that he has the most class of everyone on the team, but just because it's pretty and you can see what he's TRYING to do doesn't make it effective. He had 2 solid opportunities before I started watching so he probably deserves more like a 5.5

He was getting kicked in the heels all night by Costa Ricans and seem to be a little overburdened with a new role and being one of 2 veteran field players. He was flustered and was lashing out at the refs a little more than I'm used to. I know he's done that a lot before, but he seemed to lack composure last night

Break looked good, but I don't think he had an all world performance. It's obvious we were trying to find him on crosses, he just needs more chemistry with the squad to make better timed runs.

He's 31.

:omg:

I realize that for US Soccer internet discussion, anyone with pubic hair should retire, but DeMerit has PLENTY left in the tank.

He probably won't make it all the way to 2014, but he could be more than serviceable against CONCACAF opponents over the next 18-24 months.

Of course Jurgen may have more decidedly average half-Mexicans to play, so we may never know.

Maybe you should not have watched the rest of the match. Things started to turn bad after the 30 minute mark. Now I know who to blame.

It does kinda seem like Donovan is struggling to mesh well with all the young players.

I already took the blame jeez.
I think donovan is probably expecting the other guys to be in positions his normal teammates are in. It's been a while since a team he's played on has changed this drastically. The galaxy has had the same basic core for a few years as well.

I know it sounds crazy, but I want to see Ream tried out in the Edu role.

Not on an island like Edu was last night right? More in the Beckerman role from the Mexico game where he has some support.

I don't think Ream has the foot speed for what Edu did last night.

dude frick that. is he playing great? probably not. he will not be moved to the bench anytime soon. that's just ridiculous to think that. he was very average landon tonight and he was still probably one of the best 3 players on the field. that doesn't warrant less playing time whatsoever. i honestly think that anyone wanting less landon is just a fricking fool.

I never said bench him or make him a sub. I just said I'm ready for him to be on form. 2011 isn't kind to him, thus far.

Very true.

I would really like to say Johnny GaySpecs in the midfield.

He played a lot like Torres did last night during last season with West Ham.

Box to box, smooth, intelligent passing.

And obviously he's much bigger than torres...not that I want torres replaced at all.

The only thing that is amazing about Castillo is his speed and closing speed. The kid has a motor. He is just awful with the ball. I bet he lost the ball AT THE LEAST MIN 7 times around the box while attacking.

Still blows my mind that even after he switched to mid last season with West and had a pretty decent season. Even playing out of his mind against MUFC. We still use him as a defender.

I just meant right now. The only bad thing about him is that he hasn't played a high pressured game with Vancouver. However, He could skull frick some CONCACAF teams. I would have put him on the Gold Cup roster. I think he had an injury or was coming off an injury.
