Well Big Kat, I gotta tell ya.....

......even though we had about a month long hiccup, this still went by without nearly as much of a political road block as I expected. I am still shocked - but also relieved. Bohls is saying he thinks Texas winds up in the Pac whatever. I would prefer the Big 10 but the Pac is fine.
I am proud of A&M for breaking the bonds of the Texas/A&M/Baylor/Tech cluster. Tech looks to be okay but Baylor is screwed. I am enjoying the Baylor hysteria.....I wish A&M the best and I think both schools need the dissolution of our regular season series.

Must suck knowing your school's ego tore apart two conferences now.
PAC 12? Nah just go independent. You wanted ND and BYU, so now you set for life right?
They love ya Texas!
Go to Hell ....

It'll go away for about 4-5 years, and then everyone will wake up and say "You know, [A&M][UT] really wasn't THAT bad, and they're Texans, we ought to play again ..."

So is it really going to end the series, even for the time being?
That's terrible for CFB, IMO.

Texas and A&M won't play football in the regular season for a long time. I doubt I'll see it in my lifetime. It isn't sad.....actually, this is pretty much the only thing that most aggies & Longhorns agree about.

Ball is on their court. They decide if they want to play us or not. A&M has made it clear that we are open to resume playing.

I agree, after DeLoss Dodds dies and then Mack Brown retires as AD it will be rekindled - think 2022-2025ish

Why?
Legitimately curious.

Ok Ags and longhorns here, who agrees that we should never play again?
I for one would hate to see the game end, and I really don't want the legislature sticking its nose in it either direction.

you're right, its pathetic and petty. I understand Baylor's angst, that happens when you coattail on others, but why Texas is so angry at A&M for wanting to go to the SEC is beyond me. Just last year Texas wanted to go to the Pac 10. Subing Utah for A&M was perfect.

So, whta, UT, Tech, OU, and OSU to the P16 and Baylor and the rest in some kind of weird Big12/MWC/WAC looking thing?

My guess-
UT, Tech, OU, and Okie State to the Pac 16
Kansas and Kansas State to the Big East
Mizzou to Big East if the SEC doesn't take them as a seat-filler
Baylor and Iowa State to the WAC

Most Aggies are in favor of continuing the series, our administration has gone publicly on the record stating we will continue it if agreed, etc. Where the OP may be confused is that most Aggies are also in agreement that if Texas doesn't want to play out of spite or jealousy that it won't make one iota of difference on whether we leave for the SEC or not. The threat of ending the series was a PR move that backfired on them... they thought A&M would back down, and we've called their bluff.
It would be in A&M's best interest to never play t.u. again with a tough SEC schedule, but hopefully we will never back down from that challenge. Mack Brown has already publicly said he wants to continue the series, because he knows he may need a SOS boost and it would be used on the recruiting trail against him if tu chickened out.

My heart wants to play Texas, forever.
Texas is really butthurt, though. And I really think they'll be petty and refuse to schedule A&M for a few years, until the groundswell demands it again.
In the meantime, A&M can get their bearings in a brutal SEC West without "messing with Texas" at the end of the year. So my head says "Maybe a few years off wouldn't be such a bad thing for a new SEC team."
Either way, in the real world, the ball is firmly in Texas's court to cancel the series.
So we'll see!

I'm not nostradamus. All I know is what Looch and Brent Z have said on the matter and they've been right every time pretty much, unlike Chip Brown who has amazingly been almost 100% wrong. How is that even possible??
And Ags want to keep the game with Texas. It means a lot to the state. RC Slocum always said, it's beyond him how a kid could grow up in Texas and not want to play in that game. That game itself is a big recruiting tool. That's when you have all your big recruits take their official.
Also, eff you. You're still an arrogant butthurt sip
PS - don't drink those beers above. They are for my SEC brethren (excluding Arkansas)

I don't know if A&M breaking the bonds necessarily means Texas will have an easier time breaking those bonds. The Big XII selling the rest of the members that losing A&M wasn't going to crush the conference really helped A&M get away. The same cannot be said for if/when Texas leaves the conference.

Yall will play in the Cotton bowl though every 4-5 years or so though, and if you go independent you'll still play last game of the year probably IMO
