...A&M and ______?

Obviously UT is the most attractive, but I'm not sure that they'd accept an invite.

After that, I'd invite TCU over the rest.

I would not want two Texas schools. Pass. If I have to have some Big 12 ilk in the conference I would pick A&M and Oklahoma.

aTm and Tt or TCU

I'd prolly go with TCU. Closer to SEC country, major metro area, strong program etc

tough call. UT is obvious choice.

T Tech is too far West and would make travel terrible!

TCU gives you Dallas, which would be huge.

Then you've got Baylor, Rice, Houston, etc which don't belong IMHO.

All that said, I'd prefer only to let A&M in.

TCU adds a private school with a good program in a big market.

win win win.

The main negative is TCU doesn't really have much of a following outside of Ft. Worth, even after their recent successes.

TCU doesn't have much of a following in FW either.

TCU does have good baseball though.

SMU has good gymnastics to compete with UGA

That's sorta true. They rarely sell out that smallish stadium. Their problem is a lack of t-shirt fans.

Rice.

Yes I know they don't have anything resembling an athletic program except in baseball. Thus, an easy win for SEC football programs not named Vandy (and probably for them too).

Vandy would finally have another member with which it has something in common (a private school with AAU membership), thus keeping them from ever feeling (or acting) like Baylor. They would be perfect cross-division permanent rivals.

How many wins has the Longhorn Network been responsible for?

LHN = Boogieman

If you had to add another Texas school not named UT, none of the good football options seem to add any more viewers/revenue (i.e. TCU, UH, SMU, Baylor) except maybe TTech. I'm not sure how much value they bring state-wide since the population in West Texas continues to plummet. Besides, Lubbock is too far away to be considered SEC country or worth the effort.

So, if the SEC HAD to pick one, why not Rice? Make them the Vandy of the West (AAU school bonus). It's the only real potential gain worth a look for the SEC's needs (and that's even a stretch).

NOTE: In reality, there is no need to add another Texas school.

I'd be ok with TCU or Rice actually...TCU preferred probably because of the market

It's fine that they don't have some huge fanbase, being in the SEC would grow that in Dallas IMO

Rice is solid in baseball, not much else but is academically superior and would be a nice counter to Vandy

SMU has good gymnastics to compete with Alabama ('11 champs) and and Georgia.

I just want one texas school. ATM is good. not perfect.

TCU in the SEC

There is a reason they were in the MWC.

TCU, Baylor, Rice, Houston won't get you any additional markets that aTm didn't get.

Forget 2 texas schools, 1 will do.

aTm gets the Texas money...then go after okie st. For the T-Boone money!

ETA: If it HAS to be another texas school, I vote Rice. They would be Vandy of the west.

That would be like the Big 12 taking ULM and Troy to get the Bama and Louisiana markets. They're not worth the invite.
