It's ashame he wasn't such an idiot and wouldn't ever allow someone else to help moderate the board.
His online personallity ran off most of the good people that used to post on his forum, but there was still some good info at times.
Edited to add message board in title. nomenu.com is still fine.

The control freak in him prevented him from accepting help running things and the inability of internet posters to follow "forum guidelines" without a babysitter present were a lethal combination led to the closing.

The whole criticizing the advertiser was only a small part of it. He just couln't help but act like an a-hole many times. Anyone who even remotely questioned or challenged his authority became an enemy.

Generally you would see an anchor or the thread get removed.. Dont think people get banned for being critical of advertisers here. Most people are not sure who is currently doing ads with TD.com

Indirectly, I think it did. He constantally caused conflict, thus attracting trolls and made people act like jerks that normally wouldn't.
His excuse for shutting it down was that he didn't have time to moderate it. That means, he didn't have time to sit around deleting threads all day and night.
No big deal. I get alot of good information now around here and on a few other boards.
Not going to miss aboy and his pointless rambling and questions all that much.

WOW talk about not taking responsibility for one's actions... NO ONE has the ability to make anyone do anything when it comes to a message board or for most things in life for that matter. We all have free will and there are always choices and on a message board the most often looked over choice is to just not respond, or to do a n internet walk away...... of course people don't do that, they want to be right, or understood or want confirmation from others that they are right/correct........ the closing certainly was about control though.

Quit being dense. When you have someone that is agitating people, it causes more problems than not.
Of course you have to have responsibility for your own actions, and some of the people who used to post on there were real tools. That Amarone dude and a few others I think had mental disorders with how they were obssessed with bashing Tom.

I registered there to post a recipe someone requested. About 2 weeks later I got a rude email from him calling me an "a-hole" and telling me I was banned. I asked why, and he had to admit that he had banned a whole bunch of people when it was just one guy who had caused the trouble.
