Anyone else get this email?
Said sorry for a problem you may have experienced while streaming and gives a 3% credit towards a 7.99 streaming plan. So, .03x7.99 is about $.24 off? Gee, thanks netflix.

Were you really inconvenienced when they were down? I wasn't, but still took the discount. Quit bitching.

Yeah I saw it this morning. That $0.24 savings will go a long way. Now I can get an extra oriental Ramen.

No, I wasn't. Point being, netflix sure won't be making a lot of people happy upping their prices, having streaming go down, and giving a quarter for your troubles in a week's time. There was a thread on the streaming issue a couple days ago, so it did affect people. Pretty Shitty imo.

If it was down for a day it looks like they refunded your cost for one day. If it was down for longer, I would imagine the refund would have been more.

Give them a break. Netflix obviously tries to keep their subscribers happy as best they can unlike Blockbuster

I'm not calling out anyone specefically, and maybe I missed out on this debate, but it really just strikes me as spoiled if people complain about a small price increase. Netflix is an unprecendented service that makes available tons of movies, be it popular or obscure, and allows you to stream many of them from your own home. I'm still extremely grateful that it exists at all.

A 33% price increase is not a small increase. It may not be much money to you but it is a 33% increase which is not small.

Look, the price increase doesn't bother me. Mine went up $2. Not that drastic and I can afford it. I have to have dvds and streaming because red box and streaming don't carry many of the movies I want to see. BUT, the thread about the increase went 7 or so pages and I thought I saw some people saying they didn't like it. Not to mention the comments from articles and people in the reals I've talked to that didn't seem too happy.
The email, I just feel like its pretty pointless for a fricking quarter. Don't even waste my time.

I look at that refund as being fair even if it is small. They could just tell you tough shite and to go frick yourself (in a much more professional way of course).

I guess it depends on the plan you had. Mine went from 9$ to about $15. I hardly make bags of money, but a once a month payment of that amount isn't going to drag me down into the poor house. I still say that at 15 dollars I'm getting an amazing deal

That is a 66% increase. Are you honestly saying you don't care when something jumps 66%?
This isn't some small increase. They aren't slowly moving up. They are jumping substantially without any information about better content coming.
Almost every single person I know that uses Netflix has told me they are either dumping it or cutting their service to stream only because of this deal.
All they are going to do is chase people back to sites like icefilms.

Their plan worked to perfection...get you hooked on the cheap compared to cable...drive the competition out of business...then drive the price up. It's now $30+ for a household which is sort of like wasting money on cable tv again.
When I was in the high-volume DVD returner category and they started to falsely claim "not receiving" my returned DVDs in a timely manner to dishonestly reduce the amount of DVDs I could watch in a month since I was maximizing my membership - so I complained as did others and they were finally sued in a class action and I received two free months.
I tell this story, because it should have been a warning...this is how Netflix does business. Just another corporate vampire who thinks the public is so stupid they won't notice that their US postal service has suddenly become completely unreliable. Their new website and removal of customer interaction, links and reviews shows how smart they are by encouraging that friends-recommend facebook type feature they were just giving people the tools to spread the gospel. Now the gospel of Netflix is spread and they don't need you...time to pay up.

Not when the base amount was less than 10 dollars.

fair enough. movies are something I put a near sacred value on. a once a month payment of basically a good meal at a restaraunt doesn't trouble me in the least.

I was about to say... put hypothetical you in their shoes.
Let's say you ran a business and knew, without a fricking doubt, you were the absolute best in the world at your service. Yet were only charging a mere pittance for it. For years.
There's no way you'd be happy knowing that.

Honestly, I dont really get that vibe from them. They are just as greedy as any other big business. I know it's been ran into the ground but the price hike doesn't really add to the "we try and keep our customers happy" opinion of them.

not sure I would call 60% small
and they've already said the customer will see no return on the increase in price, and it is not meant to cover any unexpected operating cost.

Y'all are a bunch of broke slap dick mother frickers if you're really complaining about $7, $15, or even $30 a month for the service.
Unlimited streaming is what $8 bucks a month. Charge me $20, I really don't give a frick. If I want to watch the entire season of Office, 30 Rock, etc. on demand...whatever episode...point...click...
You people really need to find something else to bitch about. How about your Internet companies...you bandwith usage is all about to change once they start tiering on usage and not on speed
