on a side note, why is this place still in the ghetto?
Why would they move? They have an incredible amount of business.

I rarely have to wait for service at Tony's crawfish/crab/shrimp counter, because it seems like there are usually 4 workers asking me what I want before I even get to the counter.
The whole crab thing would have pissed me off though...I've seen people ask for only male or female crabs (I can't remember which ones are preferred) and that was pretty irritating.

Like others said, people from South BR will drive to North BR to go there. I doubt North Baton Rougers would drive to South BR to go there. That and they do a lot of business with Exxon and the other plants in the area with their plate lunches.

Between the seafood joint and La fish fry products they are grossing something like $75 million a year in sales. I remember seeing the figure either last year of the year before in the Baton rouge Business report and was astonished. They are making bank big time.

The only goood thing about failing chemistry at catholic high was that I had to go to summer school at redemptorist=dz boudin balls and boiled corn everyday... Simple times. I'm a sucker for thier corn they keep under the lamp. So sweet yet so spicy... Mmmmmm.

You can bet if Tony's moved or opened out in the burbs the food would change dramatically. Just like the Tex Mex places that move to the burbs, the spice level would go way down for the bland loving white folks. The location on Plank is really easy to get to, just exit at Evangeline and sneak in the back way.
The Pizzalota's just invested big bucks in the huge office building next door, they are not moving.

Redemptorist has also gone from a 4A school to a 2A school in the last seven years. It's not going to close anytime soon but it's trending that way.

everything's paid for .. that building is a gold mine for them .. their property taxes are nothing compared to what it would be to put that operation in SE BR ... if you can wildly succeed like they do in a low end real estate area .. you stay put and print money ..

redemptorist will be moving to the siegen lane area within the next five years ...

I love when I have to visit a job site anywhere near Tony's as that means I get Tony's for lunch - usually one plate is big enough for two lunches. My pick is Catfish Tony with baked beans, Mac n Cheese, and a boudin link. I don't eat there often, but when I do I like to get the most unhealthy thing possible - and then contemplate death afterwards.

and where is this backway to sneak in there?

I love Tony's and this isn't a knock on the business at all. Every time I go there the parking is chaotic. Maybe it's because people don't know how to drive to begin with, but it's always insane.

The only thing I don't understand is why they don't open a second location on the south side of town.

Because everyone still drives to North BR. Why add expenses when you don't need to.
