I am having a debate with my son..... Who was LSU's best all-around catcher in the recent past?

Bianco sure caught some flamethrowers during his stint

Matt Liuzza a very close second behind Gibbs.

Gibbs had the upperhand as a hitter although Liuzza was extremely consistent throughout his 4 years here. But Liuzza also had the upper hand defensively. He was the best behind the plate I have seen at LSU.

Not to argue but... really ? Gibbs may be the best with the glove I have ever seen at the college level. His arm wasn't the greatest but he was a wizard with the glove. He made picking a breaking ball look so easy you didn't really think about it getting past him.

Gibbs was downright bad in 2010.

But he's easily the best contact hitter.

all around has to be gibbs. great defensively and was close to hitting .400 offensively. Never had the power that I think he should have been capable of.

Purely offense is Cresse without a doubt

Since he hit .388 with 10 hrs and 60 RBIs, I can only assume you mean defensively?

Not his best year but think about the pitching. How many passball chances did he have vs a regular season ?

Don't think he qualifies in this.

Yeah, I saw it. Cresse was very good but I think Gibbs was better all around. Gibbs was a Bench finalist as well. For me, the ability to switch is the difference maker.

So:
Mike Bianco
Keith Osik
Gary Hymel
Adrian Antonini
Tim Lanier
Clint Earnhardt
Brad Cresse
Matt Heath
Matt Liuzza
Micah Gibbs

Probably Gibbs, then Cresse, Hymel, Liuzza, Osik, Lanier, Bianco, Heath, Antonini, Earnhardt.
