Watching basketball in a stadium with over 70,000 fans.

How bad does it suck? There's no way I would go to the Final Four unless I'm in the lower section.

We have had a similar experience before.

Jerry's World with a massive TV is the only way I think I'd go.

I went to the Final Four the last time it was in the Superdome. It wasn't that terrible of a view, and it was a fun atmosphere to be in.

I was in the upper level of the Arena last weekend for the New Orleans regional. I couldn't imagine watching from any higher than that.

Was the Superdome cut in half the year it hosted?

The crowd sizes are awesome. But yeah I couldn't imagine being at the top of a football stadium for a basketball game.

I went to one when they only used half the dome, was fine.

quote:The last time the Superdome hosted (2004 I think), the court was moved over to one sideline (parallel to the football field and not perpendicular like most dome setups at the time), and the sideline seats from the opposite side were moved over to be closer to the court. But they still sold the terrace level seats at the opposite side; those people viewed the game over a chasm between the upper and lower level seats.

Now, the NCAA has a set of kits they bring to domes so they use the entire dome setup.

No, but the court was pushed to one sideline. The other sideline seats moved in from the opposite side of the Dome to give the plaza level an arena type feel for those down there.

I was thinking of the 03 SEC tournament.

I thought about driving down to Houston, but the cheapest tickets I could find were $175 a piece and I just couldn't justify spending that much money to watch the game on a big screen above the court.
I'm sure it would have been worth it to some big time basketball fan, but I'm not. I follow the sport but I don't LOVE it like some do.

Here's a good shot of what it looked like:
This was the beginning of the "50 yard line" movement...

It's going to look cool filled up with purple and gold next season.

The view isn't bad. I was in the lower bowl last night, but met some fiends in the upper level between games. They were in the endzone area and you could still see numbers and recognize players. They claimed the atmosphere was pretty good up there as well.
Honestly, if I don't have a team in it, I wouldn't mind being up there. It's just fun being at the games and conversing with other fans.
