Denham is a culinary wasteland .. can't figure it out .. makes BR look like NOLA ..

Don't listen to the stupidity. There are more than a few places to get some good food.
HiHO is a unique place. The original has been in Hammond for over 60 years.
Latiendita and El Rancho are better than any Mexican restaurant I have eaten at in Baton Rouge.
Cafe Phoenica is my favorite Greek restaurant.
Longhorn has damn good steaks and ribs, and their salads are great.
The Jambalya Shoppe is good.
The Denham Patty rivals George's, Cheeburger Cheeburger, and Sammy's.
There is a seafood restaurant just passsed the North Oaks after hours, heading toward Watson. I forget what it is called, but it is pretty good.
Firehouse BBQ closes around 6pm, I think, but it is great.
Wayne's BBQ is just off the interstate in Livingston. It is a ten minute drive, but it is well worth it.
Oh, and Charlotte's Coffees and Teas is excellent. Do not waste your money on Starbucks. Tell him Josh sent you. Ask for a blueberry crossiant and a Southern pecan or
Lunch with Elvis!

Just got home from Cafe Phonecia. It was as good as any Greek/Lebanese that I have had in BTR.
Jambalaya Shoppe and VooDoo BBQ are in the same strip as CP. Both solid, IMO.
Had Rotolo's calzone last night. Very good.
True, no earthshaking meals of a lifetime, but one can eat three or four perfectly acceptable meals in DS.
(I did go to lunch at Chili's last week at my son's request. For the burger, not a cultural experience.)
ETA: My daughter was wearing pants over her diaper.

If you are looking for something specific, such as food seafood, Baton Rouge is a better choice. If you just want a good meal, the decent ones are listed. If you are looking for a nice atmosphere, you will not find it in Denham.

Sakura on Range is one of my favorite sushi places in the BR metro area.

Longhorn is every bit as good or better than any Outback which is certainly popular in BR.
Geisha would rank #3 or #4 on my list when including all sushi places BR to DS. I would put it right under Ichiban, Waka and Yama.
The greek place is good
Big Mikes is a good sports bar with a good shimp corn soup.
There is a La Carreta.
Oh and Waynes BBQ is much better than anything served in BR.
Dons Seafood is ok.
What DS is lacking is a really good seafood place and Italian place. Maybe some decent pizza joints and good burger place.
The area sucks most for lack of sports bars though.
