TJ needs to go especially in light of what bama's coach has done in the same/less time.
Why do you keep posting this?
Make a case for TJ to be fired, that's fine. But in comparison to Alabama, TJ has accomplished more in his time here.

Anthony Grant has not done as much at Bama as Trent Johnson has at LSU. I don't see how this justifies firing Johnson.

Then enlighten me on Anthony Grant's accomplishments, in comparison to Trent Johnson's.

I've consistently said he should be fired next year if he doesn't perform. I think that probably mirrors Alleva's stance. I think anyone who says he needs more time than that is overly optimistic, while anyone who says he needs to be fired now is overly negative.

You quoted this:
by saying:
How is TJ doing better than Grant thus far part of the equation that gets him fired?
The body of work is not terrible. LSU went 13-3 in his first season in the SEC and ended the season in the top 20. I think a realist would say that TJ overachieved quite a bit in his first season at LSU and has underachieved in the last two seasons (although neither team should've been expected to be better than about 6-10 in the SEC).
I think Bubba Hotep is dead on. TJ deserves next year to right the ship and see if this young team makes a leap. If LSU is at the bottom of the SEC again next year, he should probably go.

he will get next year and maybe year 5- however if we have seen the last win in the SEC this year- Aleva will shorten the time to year four -
We all think we should improve next year- but many of us thought that this year

This stuff is disgracefull! Southern basketball sucks. The SEC is like a strong non-BCS/mid-major conference. wE CANNOT GET ONE AND DONERS LIKE KENTUCKY; AND WE DONT NEED JUCO'S NOR to aspire to being A GOOD DUMB SEC TEAM EITHER.
Perhaps he won't make it to year four, but I can tell you that when Derenbrecker is a junior- we will be a damn strong squad.

The data speaks for itself, TJ did worse than his predecessor. Will he do the same here?

I'm so glad you follow basketball recruiting closely to know that guys like Ross Neltner, Jaime Loreda, Tac Minor, Darrel Mitchell, Chris Johnson, Magnum Rolle and Anthony Randolph were all from Baton Rouge.
nelter, quit, out of b.b.
loreda, quit in the middle of the s.e.c. sched.
tac minor, quit, out of b.b.
mitchell, not from baton rouge, however, st martinville isn't far away. good lsu career.
roll, quit, went to la tech, out of b.b.
johnson, never really played under brady, good senior year under johnson
randolph, one and done. never made the tourney with him. n.b.a. player.
that's some star studded recruiting outside of baton rouge! you actually used these as your examples of the great recruiting bady did.
that's a star studded recruiting

I'm not reading the whole thread as i'm sure its filled with idiotic responses, but this in no way is similar to what that guy wrote about Crowton, there was a pattern there, there isn't here. Also, its funny that someone would post this and then get proven wrong the very next year when TJ leads that team to a great season.
Posted on 2/14/11 at 2:31 pm to fab4lsu
so stanford was soooooo terrible in that article written during his second to last season, yet they made the NCAA? was that supposed to be a final four team or something?

"great season" is relative. I mean if Coach K or Roy Williams had the Lopez twins and didn't make the final four or more would that be a "great season" for them. Look at what the Lopez twins have done in the NBA and the best TJ can get in the NCAA with them is Sweet 16?

quote:This isn't really a good argument. Kevin Durant is a star NBA player and DJ Augustin isn't too bad of a player either, yet they didn't make it very far in the tournament.

I am still talking about the Stanford fan's take. Hence the thread title.

nelter, better than ludwig
lloreda, way better than White
tac minor, I'd probably take him over Stringer, honestly
mitchell, not from baton rouge
roll, transferred to Tech, rehabbing knee injury after look by NBA, would be best big on team
johnson, removed irrelevant facts, has played in NBA
randolph, one and done. Better than every player on current roster
Fixed and I'll add some more:
Ronald Dupree
Stromile Swift
Paul Wolfort
Jabari Smith
Lamont Roland
Brian Beshara
Antonio Hudson
This whole "Brady never recruited anyone, CT2 just told them all to go to LSU" crap has been disproven time and again.
Regardless, Brady is gone and not coming back. I hope like hell Johson "proves me wrong" next year, but there are warning signs all over the place that we need to be watching.
