Look at what the Lopez twins have done in the NBA and the best TJ can get in the NCAA with them is Sweet 16

This isn't really a good argument. Kevin Durant is a star NBA player and DJ Augustin isn't too bad of a player either, yet they didn't make it very far in the tournament.

It still doesn't take away from their ability as players either. First, they were players TJ had and second, their impact in the NBA shows the quality big men they are. College BB can turn around for teams quickly with just a few really good players coming on board with adequate role players already there. However, how many teams have had not one but TWO IMPACT BIG MEN like the Lopez twins lately? Imagine what a Coach K like coach could do with THAT! You think better than sweet 16?

The data speaks for itself, TJ did worse than his predecessor. Will he do the same here?

trent only coached at stanford? where's the nevada data? selective facts i see.

Do you have a rational argument against my conclusion of the data presented? If so, show us. If not, say so and we can move on to any other topic you desire.

I think he needs to lose one or two assistant coaches this offseason.

3 of 4 NCAA's is inconsistent? Make a list right now of SEC teams that have been to the NCAA tournament 3 of the last 4 years. It will be a very short list.

Tennessee-5 in a row
Kentucky-18 out of last 19 (missed 2009)
Vanderbilt-3 out of last 4 (missed 2009)

That is all.

How do people fail to recognize the facts here.
He did awesome his first year.
He chose to bite the bullet the second year because he got a late start on recruiting and wanted a different type of player to build the program on.
Plus, getting players from northern states is the equilivent of wake forest or georgia tech grabbing la'el collins or anthony johnson in football.
THAT MUCH HAS CHANGED FROM 10 YEARS AGO

When Johnson starts getting elite athletes (such as next year), he will have upperclassmen that are good because they have become skilled at their craft. As long as you have coaches getting on players you suck, when players start getting on players (to do homework, work on their left-hand, reverse pivot ect.) you win.
That's huge in today's game. It is a smarter game than it was 15 years ago.

When Ross Nelter (whatever his name was) transferred to vandy and i had a vision of him explaining why:
he hated playing stupid basketball with tack minor.

He did sign the best out of mississippi and alabama last year- but their all sophmore and freshman.

Add another year of weights and experience to this year's squad plus 6'11" Justin Hamilton and the O'bryant kid and the West is easily won.

roll, quit, went to la tech, out of b.b.
johnson, never really played under brady, good senior year under johnson
randolph, one and done. never made the tourney with him. n.b.a. player.

that's some star studded recruiting outside of baton rouge! you actually used these as your examples of the great recruiting bady did.

that's a star studded recruiting

They guy I quoted said Brady only got local talent that was handed to him. These other guys might not of stuck around for four years, but they were highly regarded recruits that Brady brought in. Point stands.

got to admit, watching this team perform on the court is like watching the harlem globetrotters..I mean all they do is weave and shoot 35 to 40 ft 3pt shots, hoping that one may go in..not impressed other than they at least run around in a formation like a toy race car set...better than when brady was coaching they ran around like chickens with thier head cut off..just sayin'....

TJ needs to win a game to ease the pain- the more he loses the more he will lose fans, confidence of players also- if he runs the table and wins no more games- he will have himself in a deep hole to dig out of - he will be depending on freshmen to win- next year- the current team does not show that it will be much of a supporting cast- Turner may be the exception

I really could care less about what TJ did before he got here. All I know is what he has done here. MT5 bailed him out of numerous games his first year, that is a fact. The last two years have been the lowest ever in LSU bb history, he bragged about Malcolm White last year "help is on the way" enough said on that point. In three years he has recruited and signed ONE legitimate SEC impact player Turner. His bench coaching is horrendous, no in bound plays, defense is horrible, shooting 40' jump shots more than i care to count, and we all know what happened in the last seven seconds against Ole Miss. We have been completely blown out by numerous teams home and away. Lost to Nicholls State and overtime win against mcneese state..wow thats impressive. Tj is a hard headed, and does not have a clue how to coach talent when he gets it. TJ is the wrong guy for this job and if we are happy with being embarassed and "building a program" well get used to hopefully getting in the NIT consistently cause that's where we are headed with this guy as our coach. You don't say you are building a program and then you sign Chris Bass and Eddie Ludwig, that was impressive. Firing JB is the middle of the year was a huge mistake, fire him at the end of the year would have been fine. I think we all know why TJ won't be fired this year like he should be for finishing last in the SEC two years in a row. By the way has anyone notice what langston gallaway is doing at st. joseph, pretty impressive and he wasn't good enough to play here. TJ should have signed this kid, you always try and sign the best player in your own backyard.

Absolute garbage statement. There are plenty of legit criticisms of Johnson these last two years but this is BS. He took a team that went 13-18 (6-10 in the SEC) the previous year and went 27-8 (13-3). They had a healthy Tasmin in TJ's first year, but didn't have Anthony Randolph. TJ's first LSU team should have been better than that 13-18 '06-07 team but no one expected them to sniff 27-8, win the SEC, and end up in the Top 20. To sum up TJ's first year as "MT5 bailed him out of numerous games " is total BS.

TJ is on the clock... next year is put up or shut up. These are his recruits, he's got to show something next year or else.

Brady is long gone. I was a big Brady supporter at first, but he went in the ditch his last two years and couldn't get out. Trent has gone in the ditch the last two years... can he get out ? We'll know next year, he must show big time progress. If not, he's gotta go. There's no excuse why LSU should be bad in basketball. And if we make a commitment like we do in football and baseball, we won't be.

He is still looking for MT5. His offense without an MT5 type player is useless, just look at the play he called the last 7 seconds against Ole Miss.. The guy cannot coach at all, prove me wrong. We never score coming out of time outor do anything good, we have gotten blown out in the 2nd half numerous times, we make one pass and bombs away, Turner hardly ever touches the ball, our defense is terrible, our in bounds plays are a joke, Look at all the 35' bombs we shoot. MT5 made this guy look like a genius.

And despite the fact that I completely agree the same people rope me into the same stupid conversations about him as if he's going to come back on a white unicorn that they can't wait to be impaled by.

I give him one more year to prove what he's got. He has a 7' 260 lb. Iowa State transfer in Justin Hamilton and a 6'10" 240 lb. freak of nature recruit in Johnny O' Bryant. Lack of post presence has been his main problem in his tenure at LSU. This will open up shots for our relatively talented guards who can be good when they don't have to be the stars. If he can't win with these guys, he won't win with anybody.
