Louisville fan here to clear up some misconceptions

I know what you're thinking, why am I over here wasting my time on an LSU forum? To be honest I don't really know. I came to see the reaction from your fanbase about the Kragthorpe hire and when I see all of these lies about my favorite program I guess I felt I had to clear the air. Let me just dive right in here...
First off, one of the biggest misconceptions about Kragthorpe's tenure here is that he inherited some kind of 'mess' from Petrino, that Petrino had a team full of thugs that didn't listen, broke laws, broke curfew, beat women, etc. etc. etc. This is simply not true. Anyone who has been around the program at all will tell you that Petrino is an absolutely NO nonsense kind of guy. He had 4 arrests during his tenure at Louisville. All 4 kids were sat for at LEAST a few games.
The biggest reason fans of other schools think there was a 'mess' of some sort is because our AD fed this BS to the media to cover his arse on his terrible hire. This is the first and ONLY bad hire Tom Jurich has ever made at UL. He has made amazing hires in nearly every other major program we have and IMO has been the best AD in the country for the past 12 years, but that is beside the point. Steve was his friend and when Steve didn't perform on the field, Tom had to make things up to keep the fans happy.
The second thing I'd like to address is how people consider Steve a "standup guy". This may appear to be the case on the outside but in reality he is a scumbag of the highest degree. 75% of the team was under a 2.0GPA under Kragthorpe. The Brohm family, which had blessed us with 4 players over the years, tons of money and support off the field, and who attended nearly every game was basically told to hit the road by Kragthorpe after Jeff Brohm served one year as OC. The Brohm family to Louisville football is about as important as it got and Kragthorpe single handedly ruined that relationship. He had players failing out of class while he preached to them about 'character' and 'morals', etc. etc. He then stole millions of dollars he felt he 'earned' from the University even though under him was our worst tenure in over a decade. He inherited a top 10 team and couldn't even make a bowl game. It's pathetic.
Yes he had the 6th best offense in the country in his first year, but he inherited a top 10 offense and didn't run the offense his first year. The year that he ran the offense we were something like 96th. We were absolutely AWFUL. I honestly cannot believe your coach picked Kragthorpe over Sanford. Louisville fans all consider us having dodged a bullet on that one, because Sanford is awesome, but I'm not here to gloat.
Anyway I'm sure most of you all as fans won't believe me any of this but I don't really care. I wanted to give you all the heads up to get rid of this clown as soon as possible. Don't fall for his lies, his BS rhetoric about doing things 'the right way'. I'm not saying that program should accept criminals on the football field but 'the right way' involves instilling discipline in kids, making sure they work HARD at both football and school. Charlie Strong has come in and won a bowl game in his FIRST YEAR with Kragthorpe leftovers while having the team GPA up over 3.0. Every aspect of our team was revitalized. It just goes to show you what a mess Kragthorpe left us in.
Anyway I wish him luck. I hate him for what he did to our program, and he is the biggest lying POS I have ever encountered in D1 athletics but I don't wish him ill will. I hope his wife is doing well and I hope he finds success at LSU though I know he won't.

you mean to tell me that in 2 semesters Charlie Strong has raised the team's GPA one full point? GTFO

You guys hate Ron Cooper
He is arguably the best DB coach in the country, so this makes me a little more pumped about this hire.

Sanford is a worse prospect than Krag. Period.

please make it stop. God I hope we don't get 7 more months of this garbage
Hey OP, we just went thru 3 years of Gary Crowton so we're not buying that it can be any worse

WOW, you joined a message board and posted a really long post, all because you don't care.
I'd hate to see what kind of commitment you have to things you do "care" about.
Please don't worry about LSU. We'll be fine; you'll still be Louisville.

Some people are good managers but crappy leaders.....Krag is seemingly Peter Principle in action
iF he is a scumbag The Hat will can him...The Hat is as about as a good guy as they come

Dude...that wasn't a rant. That was downright brutal.
Honestly, the past is the past. Our only concern is what he does from this point on. Les made the hire...let's see what he can do.
Oh...and he's not the head coach at LSU. He's a coordinator. Big difference.
