Saw these on the Food Network the other night. Are they really that good/worth the trip to Drago's next time I'm in nola?

They are great however last time I had them they were $16 a dozen and it doesnt come close to filling you up. But they are awesome especially if you like oysters and never had them charbroiled before.

Nothing's worth a trip to Metry, nothing.

I know there's a Hilton location, but the original location is undoubtedly where the Food Network show was featuring.

Both locations are good and well worth the trip...

I usually get a dozen charbroiled for an appetizer before my entree, which is another dozen...

Hot bread that is served with them is money, especially when you dip it in the leftover parm/butter mix...

I drive from coastal Mississippi to go to New Orleans, where I lived before here, so I'm not going to Metairie for food - no matter what. I didn't go to Metry for anything when I lived in NOLA, so why would I go there now? Traffic sucks the ballsack and I don't know where anything is. If I have to pick up a part for my washing machine, then so be it. I can find food in New Orleans proper.

They are also very easy to do yourself if you can get sack oysters.
I think I put a recipe in the Recipe Thread that works pretty well. FWIW, Sage in Monroe is doing an awesome job on this dish now....best I've had.

Do you see me telling you to go there now? I don't really care what the hell you do but blanket statements like that are dumb. For the love of baby Jesus, you live on the MS coast/Redneck Riviera!

Absolutely worth it!
The other food there is good too, IMO, so it's not like I went only for the oysters. We got them as an app and I loved them.
A bit pricey but worth it.

Those are good, though I think the better ones in Baton Rouge are at Parrains.

Not even remotely true. Acme is straight garbage.

Drago's Charbroiled Oysters are like crack. They are amazing.

Personally, I don't like anything else there. But the Oysters are amazing.

Have you priced oysters elsewhere recently?

I still think they amount to a rather fairly priced appetizer that two people can split. They're not really meant to "fill you up."

Mahoney's was cool about it when we went in the other day. The first thing the guy told us was "market price right now means really high. If you want them then you want them, but there's lots of other stuff on the menu to choose from." I appreciated that.

They are excellent... however, the price is getting to be ridiculous. We usually grab a dozen or two and then go across the street and eat at Crazy Johnnies.
