Bo Rein...not to be an a-hole....but google it or something, man.....

He died in a plane crash.....I'm sure if you google the name you'll learn all about it....

It's only Wiki, but it's accurate in this case

I'm sorry and apologize if I came on too strong....I hope the link in my previous post helps give you more information....I know that at the time, we LSU fans had great expectations (no offense to Charles Dickens, ha ha) and high hopes with Bo Rein. Who knows what might have happened? That's all we can say now.........

You are right, I sounded too strong, and am sorry.....but I was alive then, and remembered all that and it sucked.....

It's not a big deal .. I just never knew. I enjoyed my talk with oldtimer. He is from BR and I am an LSU guy.

I remember hearing the story second hand. The weirdest part of the whole story was when the plane flew directly over Bo Rein's old house...with his wife and children sleeping below...on it's way to crashing in the ocean.

What made me proud was that LSU created a scholarship for the Rein children to attend the college of their choice. Classy move!

He was only 34 when he died. Just think, he could have been our Joe Pa or Bowden and could still be coaching LSU

After that happened, we had to have a coach pretty quick. Jerry Stovall was hired who had an uneven coaching career, but answered the call when needed. One of the all time Tiger greats. Don't mean to hijack this thread, but a lot of people slam Stovall for his coaching record, but he came through in a time of need for the Tigers.

Never heard that part of the story. Indeed a classy move by LSU.

I was a senior in HS when the plane went down. Being just about the only LSU fan in my HS in Missisippi, it was a long day after I heard the news.

Bo Rein was the hot up and coming coach. His place did crash in Cary, NC over his old house. He would have resurrected our program.

I was 14. I remember all the talk about high hopes for him. My dad was finally excited about LSU football again, then was crushed, all in a short time. Sad days.

Bo Rein. He was hired to replace Charlie Mac.

The plane he was in either lost pressure at altitude or had a carbon monoxide leak. Everyone in it presumably died with the plane still in flight. It crashed in the Atlantic Ocean.
