As a Michigan Grad there is nothing we can do about the search and who is hired. The best thing all of Michigan can do is support Hoke.

As much as 60% of our fan base wanted Les to come back it really does no good to argue who turned down who. He loves LSU and that is what matters.

As far as Michigan goes we will be fine. As I've stated before Michigan is allowed to be down. I think the whole Rich Rod thing will help to unite the program and we hate losing. 19 starters back and a coach that knows the Big 10 will have Michigan back in the top 25 this year.

National level wise we will see if Hoke is a good coach in Dallas in 2012 against Bama.

I thought I heard recently that Carr still has an office in the athletic bldg? As a consultant or adviser?

Agree.
Very shabby comments.

Contrast that with Miles' remarks and it speaks volumes. Despite Brandon's silly protests, it is painfully obvious the Wolverines' job was offered to Les (and Harbaugh). In considering Miles answer to the question as to when he finally knew he was going to turn UofM down, it was well after David Brandon had left. That doesn't happen without an offer being tendered. Perhaps DB meant that, "A two- or three-hour meeting with a coach uncovers much more than you could learn scanning the Internet or sifting through statistics," it uncovers the fact that he prefers his current situation to yours.

Brandon's comments were surprisingly déclassé, and poorly representative of Michigan.

I wish the thread title would be changed to "The powers at work at Michigan are garbage" because the fans have been all class from what I have seen.

its funny to hear what SEC/LSU people have to say about history. The fact is that Michigan is a top 5 program of all time while LSU can't even find its self in the top 15. shame on you

What is funny is people who don't know that the world changes and that history didn't stop before 1999. Actually, according to CFBDwarehouse.com, LSU is no. 9 all time, which seems to be well within the top 15. In the last decade (2000-2009), CFBDwarehouse.com has LSU ranked at no. 3, with Michigan at no. 14.

So, shame on you. Perhaps you need to update your history. LSU is in fact a top 10 team, all time. Funny to hear what people in the Big 10/OSU have to say about history.

Its not like we all believed him when he said he never offered Miles, most of us knew he was lying or something.

I commend you for recognizing this. Not 1 but 2 private lear jets show up in B.R. My understanding is that the cost of fuel alone is about 5 grand. I mean come on, you expect people to believe that Miles wasn't seriously considered and the first choice? Ridiculous

I will bet anyone that Hoke will work out...not necessarily win an NC, but that he will beat Ohio St within 3 years.

He has done a very good job w/out resources at other schools,
I think he will do a great job WITH resources.

BTW, in this case, he is a better fit than Miles would have been.

I remember watching the sunday morning Bo show when Carr was coach and you always got the feeling Carr thought he was superior to old Bo...RR was not Carr's choice and it is my belief that he sabatoged Rich Rod at every opportunity, in short Carr is still butthurt he was pushed out...the big problem is that he wasn't pushed out all the way...

This is really funny to me. How come every single alleged "Michigan Man" is never from Michigan?? They all seem to be from Ohio. Is it that they are all just OSU rejects who then decided to get revenge against OSU by going to it's rival??

Are there any "real" Michigan men? Are any of them actually from Michigan?????? Seems like UM really wants an "Ohio Man".

Les has certainly handled the situation with more grace than the Michigan administration. He has continued to show his loyalty and respect to his alma mater, while Brandon has continued to act like a jerk.

I don't think Michigan is garbage, but its athletic administration needs some lessons in PR.

The fact is LSU is a better job than Michigan. That hasn't always been true, of course, but it is true for right now and has been for quite a few years.

I agree with this assessment, I think RR after getting Michigan to a bowl game this year would have added 2-3 more wins next year...now you have a team with RR players and a system in place and no RR to run it...all in all Michigan seems adrift at this point...the AD seems to be a bit of a Khunt as well...

I grew up watching Michigan. They were behind LSU and Alabama as being my favorite teams.I always thought there are some good people up there.

What was said by the Michigan adminstration regarding offering Les Miles a shitty contract? I have read the quote materials but I don't see anything realting to the original posters statement about how Les was treated?

I'd love a home and home against Michigan. Let's get this int he works.

While I have no problems with the Michigans and the Penn States of the world, I will say that those guys really do live in the past. You have to respect their teams and coaches...they were real power houses back in the day. But this is today, and things are different. Last year when Penn St. and LSU played in the Capital 1 Bowl, their fans were the MOST obnoxious group of people I'd ever seen. i witnessed several being escorted out of the stands by Police. (And trust me, being from LSU I know what obnoxious is..and this was worse) They were spitting on LSU fans, calling us names, throwing stuff at us, etc. After the game, my family and I were at Disney World and the Penn St. fans kept coming up to the LSU fans and telling us how embarrassed we made ourselves look, how we shouldn't be wearing our LSU sweatshirts, and just down right being very rude. This continued like 2 days after the game was over. At first I felt angered by it, and I really wanted to come back at them with a good comeback. But I didn't. Their team isn't what it used to be...they haven't won a championship in who knows how long (the 80's I think?), and the students who go there most likely won't see their school win a championship. I was very blessed to have been a student during the last championship run, and the experience I had being in the Superdome and watching our team beat OSU was something I'll never forget. So, in the end I took the high road and just laughed at the rude Penn St. fans and gave them a good "Geaux Tigers" and moved on. These fans from these "used to be great" schools will cling to their former glory as long as they can.
