I don't think you understand what "squashes Michigan talk" even means. He did nothing of the sort.

why didn't he say "i will be the head coach at lsu" again, and tell everyone to have a great day?

The Michigan talk wont be squashed until Michigan hires a new HC.

He definitely didn't squash it. Seemed to hedge a bit.
He will at least turn this into a big contract extension.

He just said he hasn't been contacted by Michigan, doesn't mean he won't be contacted after the bowl game!

No he didn't. If anything, his response gives "more smoke to the fire".
Yesterday, I didn't think he was considering Michigan; after reading his comments today, I'm not so sure.

Sure he has not been contacted...BUT HIS AGENT MAY HAVE BEEN!!!

I doubt Michigan will contact Miles until after the Cotton Bowl.

HOW?

All he has to say is "I'm not going to Michigan. I'm staying at LSU"
But ... he didn't.
But ... he didn't.

He said no one has any reason to be concerned.
That settles it for me--he's staying.
Three years ago LSU coach Les Miles stepped to the podium and denied any interest in the Michigan job, a take-that to the media that famously ended with his “have a great day” line.
That moment came in the middle of the Southeastern Conference Championship week in Atlanta.
Really. I thought for sure that moment came the morning of the SECCG, not the middle of the week.

The word is QUASH, not SQUASH.
You bunch of insufferable morons.

I think if Michigan offers him the job he will take it. Can't blame him. People have been trying to run him out of town until he beat Bama this year.

No, he didn't let it even get that far.
“I very much enjoy where I’m at,” Miles said. “I don’t think anybody has any reason to be concerned in any way.”
“I have received no contact from Michigan,” he said.
Do you make it a habit to tell the press where you do not intend to go, even if never offered the job?
"For the record," Miles continued, "I will not be the defensive coordinator at Texas nor will I be the next head coach at Stanford."
That doesn't make sense. People that try to make something out of nothing are a special kind of dumb.
