finding and hiring the "right" coach, why do so many people around here think this will be a fairly simple task for LSU should Coach Miles leave??

I for one do not want to have to go through what Michigan, Notre Dame, Tennessee, and Miami, amoung others have been dealing with.... It's a long long road back once you sign on with the wrong guy...

I think that might be Michigan's problem...since they have it in their head that it needs to be a Michigan man, they are really limiting themselves...

LSU wouldn't have these same limitations...

I'm not sure how to put this politely. Ya see sweet cakes; we're LSU. The teams you mentioned aren't.

hope that clears things up.

Is the Talent currently at Michigan = to the talent currently at LSU?

It's not if you don't pay him 4 mill a year with a huge buyout.

No,not really... they all tought that they could get the "right" "better" guy in there next...

Newflash!! Other schools all believe that their head coaching position is a "destination job" too... Don't forget how many people wanted Rich Rod here instead of Miles... would have been a slam dunk, huh???

right.... a slam dunk to being on NCAA probation...

Think about this. You've always been an LSU fan, you choose to have a career in coaching and make your way through the top. Wouldn't you want to someday have the opportunity to coach at LSU?

It's not as simple as that, but thats pretty much the basic picture. Miles leaving wouldn't in no way mean that Michigan is a better place to coach @ than LSU.

Because we are LSU by god and all we have to do is snap our fingers and all the big name coaches will come running.

we've been breaking in Del Rio for a few years now in our NFL coaching farm system just to prepare him for this day; we did have to send Gruden to the MNF booth so he could break down film on every NFL team so he could get a little more seasoning..... ya know kinda like a back up plan.

uh yeah it is. I'm not going to take the time to explain it to you since Chicken already has but I'm guessing you don't understand that.

You know how easy it is for the head coach at LSU to recruit Louisiana?

yeah no way we could lure Patterson, Mullen, Pelini, Fitzgerald or Petersen away from their jobs... You don't think ANY of them would snatch up the opportunity?

Are you old enough to know that it hasn't always been that way?? Or not guaranteed to stay that way? Before the midget, there were HUGE gaps in the fence around Louisiana.... one screwed up hire could set that back and take years to fix.

And how many of LSU's true standouts are that great "get" from OUT of state??? Not everyone can do that, either...

so don't frick the hire up. LSU will end up with a good coach if Miles leaves.
